I understand what you are saying about the 'ping' aspect of pingball, but I think that gripe is a bit overblown. There was a point in the early 2000's where LSU and some other powers were winning games 23-18 etc. and it seemed like whoever has the last at bat would win the game because pitchers couldn't keep ANYBODY in the yard. But that just hasn't been the case for the last 5-6 years. They may have taken some of the 'juice' out of the baseball, I don't know, but pitching is once again the key to winning baseball games.
I had the pleasure of watching Joba Chamberlain's jr and sr seasons at Nebraska and the makeup of the bats used against him didn't really matter much.
Another reason I don't have a problem with the 'ping' is that I grew up in Omaha and have been attending the CWS since i was 2 years old. So as you can imagine, the sound of the aluminum bats that make purists cringe, for me it brings back wonderful memories of my childhood. And the thing I love best about it is that these kids(90% of them won't go to the next level) aren't playing for $$, they are playing for their teammates and their love of the game and when you are sitting in the stands watching them, this fact becomes very apparent.
