Dealing with Christians that condemn others while not behaving like Christians

I see this ALL the time. Its very, very frustrating and I think its a lack of bibical knowledge and Christ's teachings. I just saw, again, a person calling themselves a Christian post a comment on youtube saying those that didn't like and mocked a certain movie should be thrown in prison..THEN told them to quit sinning and turn to Jesus... Their channel showed they refer to themselves as a Christian and promoted it yet they say things like this? Contradicting scriptures of loving everyone..even your enemies. Its not very nice let alone loving to say everyone that mocks some silly movie should be locked up then in the same breath tell them they need to quit sinning!

I see more of a NEED for these type of Christians to be taught even the basics of Christianity then anything else. I do this by giving them scriptures to show they are really not following Jesus' teachings and I put on video's with scriptures showing the lessons Christ has taught us. It not only helps them but many nonbelievers have commented too..so it works in a two fold way...teaching new Christians..and reaching nonbelievers. The most amazing thing about the internet is whatever we say...whatever video's we put up are there working 24/7 for anyone to access and be affected by even when we are sleeping! lol.

I was listening to a Christian radio broadcast the other day saying how if we aren't using the net to get God's Word out we are missing a huge chance to reach a whole generation of people that get most of their information off the net.

So what are you doing to teach and witness on the net?

    God bless
"People do not drift toward holiness. Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord. We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; We drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; We drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated?" - D A Carson

Jesus was judged and crucified by the religious crowd. It's still happening today.
"May the Lamb that was slain receive the just reward for His sufferings." A quote by Moravian missionary that sold himself (along with a friend) into slavery to reach those that the slave owner prevented from hearing the gospel.

May I live for Him and not for me.

Yea it is! They seem to make up their own ideas what Christianity is about...

The way I have seen some churches treat pastors and fellow Christians in need of help, I could almost hear the voices from 2,000 years ago...

    Crucify! Crucify! Crucify!

For what mortal has ever heard the voice of the living God speaking out of fire, as we have, and survived? ~ Deuteronomy 5:26

If you're not prepared to risk your very life for your "enemy" you have no right to speak to him of love. ~ Daughter

Many say they are called... but I am pretty convinced that with many of them it was the wrong number. ~ Project Peter

I agree that there are a lot of people out there that seem to be missing the basic principals of being a Christian. I just got off the phone with a woman who I have met last week, that wants to be a Christian. Thing is, she keeps getting hurt by family members that are Christians. As I listen to her stories, these are people that really do proclaim Christianity and if this girl is telling the truth, they've done some awful things. I'm not perfect either, but this really angers me. I am trying to convince her to look past those things. That isn't true Christianity and those people need to repent of those things just the same as any sinner. The thing is, I feel like they are trying, they just haven't got there yet.

We really should be concerned about our own souls, but we also need to look further. The blemishes in our Christian walk may just turn someone else away from Christianity. Then the blood is on our hands. Our witness is so much more than what we say, but how we live our lives. People are watching.

You're speaking of internet behavior and it is a shame that things are going on online like in this woman is seeing in her life. People are still watching. Only on the internet, it's recorded. It can be played over and over. It can be misunderstood or it can be all too clear. People are watching and we have to be careful to use every means of witness carefully. We have to check our actions. We have to pray to be sure we are in the Lord's will. Like anything else, the internet is a tool that can be blessed or it can be cursed. We have to decide how we will influence it, or be influenced by it.

I think we've seen too much of the same thing. There was a reason Jesus said the prostitutes would get in before the religious crowd would. That's a scary, scary judgment! (Of course, by religious I mean the pharisaical types.)

That is sad..I will keep her in my prayers.

There is some kind of distortion going on in regards to our faith...people seem to have the idea they are saved through Jesus which is correct but it gives them the right to attack others in horrible ways. Its more like some big ego trip for them. They see themselves as getting some stamp of approval that makes them better then everyone else and instead of being told to share the gospel (which they don't even understand the basics of) they go around hatefully judging and attacking others. They use the bible as a weapon to hurt others with rather then helping them. All I know is its getting worse and worse on the internet everyday and if we as believers that know God's Word don't steer them the right direction...they will be condemning themselves..

    Romans 2

    God’s Righteous Judgment

1 Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. 3 And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?

Yes we need to be very careful about what we say and what we do..especially on the internet as it stays forever...for anyone to read.

At least now on youtube they finally did make it possible for a person to remove their comments...

    God bless

I have found that there's no talking or reasoning with them simply because they are justified in their own eyes so all I can do is repent for my own anger issues, pray for them, and just not hang out with them.

it's not that I would condemn them, but I would give them a chance reasoning with them from the scriptures and showing them that they're no better and that their issues are just as bad as the one they're condemning and that if they don't see that, then I recommend the above suggestion.

I feel sorry for them, people do that in an effort to show that they're spiritual and to hide the same issues that they point out in others... it's all out of a self condemning spirit that they use to condemn others in such a manner. They are trying to justify themselves before man instead of humbling themselves before God.

In Luke 18, the tax collector and the Pharisee go to the temple to pray, the Pharisee condemns the tax collector in his prayer and you find that Jesus points out that the Pharisee have the same issues as the tax collector it just has a religious mask, the tax collector humbles himself before God crying for mercy... and Jesus says that the tax collector went home justified before God.

So, I would encourage those who have problems with merciless Christians, humble yourself before God, repent of your offense, and pray for them because they need Jesus almost as bad as you do.

    Blessings,

    Timmy

Oh I don't condemn them...but God does. The scriptures show this. That is what I just posted..its a continuation of Roman 1. The point I was trying to make here is I think its up to us to reach and teach these wayward Christians...the bible tells us we are our bothers keeper. There are many verses about going to sinning Christian brothers or sister and confronting them and hopefully saving them.

    Scripture also tell us this:

    2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I think its our responsibility to at least try to reach them as the bible says it is! I think you would be surprised how many do listen...

Of course I run into those like you mentioned that are too arrogant to listen and have already abused scriptures to justify their behavior. But the ones I am talking don't even know scriptures well enough to try to justify their behavior. I don't think they read their bibles...they seem to not even know the teachings of Jesus. Someone lead them in the sinners prayer then that was it! They seem to think they are now special and can just trash others. They don't know what they are doing at all...

    God bless

To be honest, I think EVERY Christian goes through this kind of a phase. They are zealous, but immature. God loves them and knows their heart while their behavior is by no means commendable. Jesus condemned the religious. It takes discernment and hearing the voice and heart of God to truly discern whether the person is just an immature Christian or truly an agent of Satan to condemn people.

Would we be any different if we condemned those who condemned others? A person is truly prophetic when he can see the scum of the earth and love him because he can see him through God's eyes.

Amen. We have to be very careful and understanding when it comes to the spiritual warfare of dissernment or judging. Am I so Holy that I can condem another? Maybe I have to lovingly pray for them and engage in dialog that will be mutally bendficial. If you look deep into the mirror we will find more often than not that we are more like the person whose actions we are judging than we would like to admit. Having someone else be a thorn to us is a sign that we have a growth area.

That's so true Gregg... Just like John Bevere says... God allows us to be offended to reveal the nature of our hearts..

I have been on both sides of the coin. Only reading the Bible and obeying the Holy Spirit before speaking will cure this.
