Luke 14

What happens when we exalt ourselves?

What happens when we humble ourselves?

Who does the man who prepared the feast represent?

Who does the people that were too busy for Him represent?

Who does He offer the meal to?

What do you do before you build something?

Bonus- How does "counting the cost" have anything to do with accepting Christ and living for Him?

When we exalt ourselves people will see this and bring us down.
What happens when we humble ourselves?
When we humble ourselves people will see this and see your example and follow it.

Who does the man who prepared the feast represent? The man who prepared the feast represents God.
Who does the people that were too busy for Him represent? The people represent people who are to busy with there own life to care about God's word.
Who does He offer the meal to? He offers the meal to the poor,blind,lame,crippled.
What do you do before you build something?
Before you build something you must lay down the foundation.

Bonus- How does "counting the cost" have anything to do with accepting Christ and living for Him?
I am not sure what counting cost means. If you could explain that i will try to answer your question.

In this chapter inoticed Jesus said 'Hate your mother,father,ect.' What did he mean by this?

exactly right!

most will probably not follow an humble example but they will try to lift you up, which will make you feel much better than being brought down as in the first question

yep, sadly most of us fit into this category at times

actually, He offers it to everyone, but you got partial credit

I am not sure what counting cost means. If you could explain that i will try to answer your question.

see the question above this one. you add up what you will have to pay to finish whatever you are starting. Does that help?

In this chapter inoticed Jesus said 'Hate your mother,father,ect.' What did he mean by this?

He meant that we are to be willing to give up everything if we had to to follow Him. Many do not have to give up much but if your mom and dad were Muslim you would have to deny them to accept Christ. We should all be willing to do that if we had to. Does that make sense? This also ties in with "counting the cost". Can you see how?

If your parents were devote in another religion or even athiestic, you might have to accept that they would never want to be around you again for accepting Jesus as your Savior. Jesus is saying that we must be willing to give up everything else to recieve Him. When He is telling us to count the cost He means for us not only to decide what what we need for a foundation (which is really to just accept Him at Lord) but to know that we may have to give up many things of this world down the road as we try to be more like Him. He wants us to decide that we can deny anything as long as we can follow Him. I have found that when i made that commentment He has not asked me to give up much at all. Also from what i have seen different people are lead to give up different things. Maybe He knows what we would try to hold back on and that is what He requests of us, I don't know how He decides but everything I've given up for Him has really helped in my walk with Him.

What do the parables of the lost sheep and coin tell us that the Good Shepard (Jesus) does for us?

Who rejoices in the end?

What did the younger son do with his money?

What kind of job did this son of a wealthy man have to do?

What kind of desicion did he make when he come to his senses?

What was his dad's reaction to seeing him returning home?

In what state was the younger son's heart when he talked to his dad?

What was the older brother's reaction?

What did his dad tell him?

Not only is what Buckshot said is true but also you must Love Jesus more than anything. (after all He is the ultimate Good in the universe)

INcluding your own life, your parents or even your spouse/girlfriend...anything nor anyone cannot be loved more than Jesus. And I love my wife pretty intensely...but I love God more. Kinda strange but just a fact of life. If it ever becomes a question between God or her...guess who loses. IT is a very tricky and fine line. I don't love Church more than my wife...I love God more. It isn't just a said love either...I regularly act it out in a variety of ways. And sometimes it is at church.

O i thought you ment for example trying to bring a spouse/girlfriend/family member to Jesus should not be done. I see what your saying tho.

He spent it on parties and women. He did not use it wisely and wasted it away and then did not have the money to eat.

he ended up having to take a job feeding the pigs (swine) which to a Jew was probably the worse job he could have taken since the pig were an "unclean" animal. Not only was his job to feed them but he was so hungry he could eat with the "unclean" beast.

What kind of decision did he make when he come to his senses? He made the decision to come home.

he did decide to go home but he knew he must repent (turn from the ways he had been living)

Right on both of these! Many times folks that have served in the church for a long time feel like God owes them something more because they have served Him for so long but God does not owe any of us anything. We are the one who is in debt to Him for forgiving us

Bonus- In verses 10-12, can you explain this part? It means if you can be trusted with something small that means you are trustworthly and honest and you should be treated trustworthly no matter with how much or how little.
In verse 15, what does God know of us? God knows what is in our hearts. Meaning you may be able to fool everyone on earth into thinking you are worshipping God but if your heart is not on God. God knows. You cannot fool God.
Who was the last prophet of the Law? "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, (Could you explain this for me)

Who wanted to spread God's Word in the end of the chapter? The rich man did.

A few questions.
It never says Lazarus follows the gospel but it says he goes to Heaven. Are we to assume that he did follow it?
What is The Law and the Prophets?
