Is Christ sending me a message?

    AND NOW I BELIEVE............

    A SPIRITUAL RE- WAKENING

I had been thinking about getting a bird house to put on the patio with feed to help entertain my cat who like to watch birds from inside the house. She has been very lonely since my big dog ShuShu went to the rainbow bridge three months ago, as I have been of course.

I live alone, and having been retired three years, I now have more time to spend on hobbies. Being a collector of vintage jewelry, I am always on the lookout for wonderful old pieces but they are few and far between.

I only read my bible from time to time, and have not been to church in at least 2 years, but lately, I have been very depressed. I have been praying to God lately knowing I must get right with him again, after all these confused and somewhat sad years of my life.

On this particular day, I awake, to thunderstorms and lightening, and over and over in my head, I am hearing an old church hymn sung by the old congregation of the long ago church of my childhood. I rose, and humming along with the melody in my head, know I must open my bible. I began reading and finally happened on Isaiah 54:5. I read on and find comfort in these passages.

Later that day, I leave to run errands. I happen upon a garage sale sign, and (being the bargain hunter I am) I make a sharp right to go to the sale. I can’t find it! No sign in the yard. Finally, I go around to the back, and the lady says “Everything is free! The rain soaked everything this morning and it all got wet! Help yourself!” This is a first for me!! I peruse all the offerings and find, among other things, a BIRD HOUSE! I selected the bird house plus few other goodies. Before leaving, I gave the woman the little bit of cash that I have in my purse, which only amounted to a few dollars, and asked her to please take it, because I had picked out several goodies, and did not want her to be uncompensated. I had asked her if she had any jewelry she would like to sell and she said no but as I was leaving, out a bag of old costume jewelry, and I paid her an agreed on amount.

Also I was leaving, I noticed a white ceramic piece all in white that was sitting in the middle of the table. Looked a lot like my old church! When I got home, there were several wonderful pieces of jewelry in the lot that I really treasure now.

Next day, I open my bible up again, and after saying a short prayer to God to please guide me, I open the bible randomly, and to my surprise, the passage I opened it to was Isaiah 54:5 ! I read it over again...once more finding comfort in the words.

Now I ask you...is this a spiritual awakening?

I do believe that God is speaking to your heart, and revealing Himself to you, once again. Revelation through the things of beauty (birdhouse and vintage jewelry pieces) that He knows touch your heart and bring joy to you. He knows this because He created you with an special eye to appreciate them.
He speaks into our lives. He speaks to us in ways that we can recognize His voice. He lovingly woos us through the beauty of His creation, He lovingly speaks to us through the beauty of His word.

    Isaiah 54:
4 "Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame.
Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.
You will forget the shame of your youth
and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.

5 For your Maker is your husband—
the LORD Almighty is his name—
    the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth.

6 The LORD will call you back
as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit—

    a wife who married young,
only to be rejected," says your God.

God's prevenient grace is at work within us, drawing us near to Him. This grace is a gift which awakens in us an earnest longing for deliverance from sin and death and moves us toward repentance and faith. He loves us, and desires that we live our lives abiding in Him.

I want to share one of my favorite worship songs with you. This songs speaks of God's great love for us.

    He loves you.

My heart swelled up with joy when I read your thread, because I believe Christ is softly calling you back to Him. It reminds me of when He called me back to the flock. I had backslid and was ashamed to even go back to church. I started reading my bible just to see if there was any hope for me. God's love poured from the pages, letting me know it wasn't too late. Now when I go to church, I hold my head high with a good clean conscience knowing I worship Him every day of the week in my heart. I do the best I can and leave the rest up to the Lord.

Don't believe satans lies, either, cause he'll try to put doubts in your head like "It was just a coincidence or God don't hear you" but HE IS WRONG! God hears your thoughts, and prayers and He knows what is in your heart.

I pray for God's love to drown out any doubt for you and to guide you every step of the way back to Him. In Jesus Name Amen

I'm really glad you're here, birdhouse.

Yes, having read your question... I do believe that God is speaking to you.

He does speak through His word, and through the mundane, and day to day. Take comfort in this, and thank Him. I'll pray for you.
Please could everyone pray for Mieke and Charles.

I don't know about a spiritual awakening, but I do know about God using certain things in our lives to get our attention. I'm not a fan of reading something into every little thing that happens, but there are times where it gets just too plain obvious to be coincidental.

    birdhouse,

A spiritual awakening or re-awakening? Probably not. A knock on the door of your heart? Yes.

After reading your post the understanding I received is that you have come to a place where you are ready to hear and to listen. God often uses little things to get our attention. I birdhouse, a letter from an old friend, standing in line behind a person wearing a shirt with a scripture on it.

Its a gentle knock saying " I miss you spending time with me". When you experience the awakeing or reawakening is when you start spending time with HIM. Morning devotions, prayer, fellowship, worshiping as you do housework, and even smiling at someone for no reason other than to see them smile in return. These things are just the beginning. So simple yet so hard to remember to do. At least at first. The more time you spend with Him the easier it will be. You will begin to remember that He loves you more than anyone ever has or ever will. You will see His life manifest (become visable) in your life.

Then you will know that you are truely awake spiritually. Spend time talking with Him. You can pray if that is easiest for you to talk with Him. Myself, I just talk with Him. I trust Jesus with everything in my life and with that trust comes a relationship. A friendship that transends anything we have in this world. A friendship where there is no judgment. Guidence yes but judgment no. When you get to this point you will be spiritually alive.

So take the gift of the birdhouse, just don't let it end there. Persue Him and find out what true spiritual awakening is.
