    Last updated: March, 2006

(Language file Download link at bottom of page)

If you speak another language, please consider assisting with the translation of the BibleDatabase language files. The language files are simple text files which allow the GUI (Graphical User Interface) to display in whatever language the person using the Software wants.

Which languages are there language files for?

We greatfully acknowledge and thank the following individuals for their work and effort in translating into the following languages:

    # Jimmy O'Kennedy ........ Afrikaans
    # P. Constantinov ........ Bulgarian
    # Alan Ching ............. Chinese
    # H. Terkelsen ........... Danish **NEW**
    # W.P.M.E. Hofland ....... Dutch
    # Original Distribution .. English
    # Paul J Chenevier ....... French
    # Dr. S. Ploch ........... German
    # anonymous .............. Greek
    # N. Makszim ............. Hungarian
    # L. Suisan .............. Indonesian
    # Mario .................. Italian
    # D.J Jagnow ............. Portuguese
    # Gods Creation .......... Russian
    # A. Notasbiblicas ....... Spanish
    # C. Wadensten ........... Swedish
    # Philip Pope ............ Thai

Which language files still need to be translated?

    Albanian
    Cebuano
    Finnish
    Gaelic
    Haitian Creole
    Korean
    Maori
    Norwegian
    Swahili
    Vietnamese

How much time will it take?
It is not a huge task. It should take you an afternoon or less to complete.

How Do I get the files to translate?

What do I need to do?
The file you will download - lang.zip - contains the language files we have. Download and unzip it to your hard disk drive. Preferably work form the “ENGLISH__frm.mes” and “ENGLISH_std.mes” files as these are the originals.

There are instructions in the files

The files are in standard ASCII format so you edit them with something like NotePad.

Save the files when done under a new name using the name of the language. E.g. SPANISH_frm.mes and SPANISH_std.mes.

If you do read and write one of the languages mentioned above please give this careful consideration. We cannot do this without your help.

NOTE: Language files only work with Version 5.x. Do not use with version 4.x

If you make a language file please DO NOT post it as a zip file attachment on the Message Board as this board does not support it. Please forward files by email to

    lanf at bibledatabase DOT com

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here and we will do our best to answer you.

    Many thanks.
