    Weight Loss

I'm wondering if any of you has lost a huge amount of weight and are willing to "talk" about it here? I would love to lose about seventy five to one hundred pounds and I have some questions. I know of one person who lost that kind of weight (she probably lost 150 pounds) and I'm not comfortable asking her these questions. She had lapband surgery, but I am looking at a DVD set using cardio and strength training.

For those of you who have lost over 50 pounds, how long did it take you?

How did you lose the weight?

What age bracket were you at the time of the weight loss?

Did you develop health concerns during or shortly after the weight loss?

Have the aches and pains (ankles, knees, back...) been resolved with the weight loss?

Did you have stretched skin that had to be surgerically removed?

If you were on blood pressure medicine, did you get to go off it after the weight loss?

When am I supposed to fit in time for exercising? (LOL! I know I just have to make the time to exercise somewhere in my day.)

I am a point in my life where I just don't feel good physically anymore. I truly need to do something about my weight. I don't want to live the rest of my life like this.

I made the decision about a month and a half ago to start losing weight.....the biggest thing is to not try to do it all overnight! Dont go from eating McDonalds 3 days a week to eating nothing but "rabbit food" you will just give up after a couple weeks....

Try adding some healthy food to your diet slowly....for example....if in the morning you stop at a fast food joint to get some breakfast....instead try getting some Fiber One bars and have that and a Carnation Instant Breakfast drink...... The more fiber you can eat in the morning the better as it keeps you full throughtout the morning until lunch.....

Also I know you mentioned its hard fitting exercise in but if you just cant fit anything else in (I started getting up 1.5 hours earlier to go to the gym....but thats the only way I could do it....if I tried going after work I would just quit going...... ) but if you cant do that try walking a path at the office.... or instead of driving to the store try walking there.... any step in the right direction is a good thing.

    I hope this helps!

"Those who wait on the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk ant not be weary" -- (Isaiah 40:31)

I lost about 75-100 lbs in 3 months time...... I strongly advise against that...... it was very dangerous of me to do it that way and I shouldn't have done it........ it's especially wrong if you know I am bedridden and can't exercise, so it was a question of hardly eating...... very very wrong........

Now we're on a diet since September, a special one I designed of a diet for hubby's disease (arthritis) and my disease (RSD) and those two I combined together....... and we love the food on it! We don't eat meat anymore, Charles eats fish every now and then and I eat chicken every now and then as I don't like fish...... we eat lots of rice and pasta with fresh veggies, healthy wholegrain bread, nuts, apples and grapes and bananas, the last thing goes into my oatmeal and my yogurt before I go to bed..... for the rest there is no sugar in our diet, no cookies or candy, no milkproducts (except I have special yogurt with cultures) and elimination of certain veggies/fruit..... we eat delicious food, we can eat as much as we want of it and we're both slowly losing weight....... I already went down 2 sizes in clothes! It was not the intention to lose weight but now it's happening we're happy with it! I'm not saying that we have the ideal diet, but it's a good one for us....... hence why we can keep it up since September 2009........ and we both can't exercise......

    Love you lots,
    Mieke

Twin2, you have to first establish the reason why you over-eat.
Are you bored, or do you eat ieo realizing that you are actually thirsty?
Are you frustrated or do you eat for comfort?

I was about 260 lbs about 8 yrs ago and has knee pain and joint pain and breathing issues, (out of breath easily). My lower back always hurt and I felt older than my age. I was 49 then. I tried changing my diet, not eating out so much, and not eating at fast food places. I lost about 20 lbs when I got married in 03, it was pretty erratic, I would go on Atkins, try different things, diets, etc and one day joined a new gym in my town. I worked out, but not in the way that would get me the body I wanted, simply cause I didn't know how. But I did get down to 220lbs by 09 by my erratic workouts and diet. I discovered P90X workout DVD's and in two rounds, between Nov 09 to May 10, I am down to 195 lbs. The knee and joint pains went away I look better and most important feel so much better. Now I have made it a lifestyle to eat fresh fruit and veggies and healthy stuff as a lifestyle not a diet. I cut out white bread and eat only whole wheat bread, cut out white flour, soft drinks, fast food all the stuff that is unhealthy, yeah it sounds boring but your body gets used to it so it's a good thing. Ok won't bore you anymore but you asked and I told..

I don't quite make the grade - I lost 40 pounds some years ago.

Basically I started eating right and laying off the snacks. Now I'm mostly Vegan. Though the real reason for going Vegan was long term health more than loosing weight. Its Biblical too - up until the Flood, everyone was vegetarian.

You cannot lose much weight without exercise. But it doesn't have to be a lot of vigorous exercise. Get out and walk, hike, whatever. You have to change your lifestyle, not just get on a diet.

Avoid surgery, I've heard too many stories of disastrous complications. Be patient; it comes off a lot faster than it got on.

I was able to reduce the BP meds and in time I'll be able to get rid of them. Also I used to be on meds like Lopid to reduce cholesterol and triglycerides. Now I'm off all that stuff, and last time I checked, my cholesterol was 111.

I heard of an interesting "Diet" on the radio today. It is called : Read a Psalm -diet.
Read a Psalm before every-time you eat something,,, be that a chocolate or fruit or a meal...
