    What do Mormons believe?

    Well, I know that Mormons claim that Mormonism is a denomination of Christianity, but I kind of doubt that.
    What do they believe?
    Are they saved?

    Bottom line, they believe that God was once a human man, who worked and worked and ascended through a workbased system called 'celestrial progress' to become the God of this planet.

    We too (men only, sorry ladies), can work and follow this celestrial progression if we follow all of the rules and guidelines of the LDS church, and eventually become the Gods of our own planets.

    Jesus Christ is not God, but is the highest progressed human of our present earth to earn his way towards being the God of his planet.

    Also, their God the Father isn't Spirit, but is still flesh and bone; and their God the Father had real physical intercourse with Mary to procreate Jesus.

    So what they have, is a complete misunderstanding of what God is, how God exists, and how we attain salvation. They use the same words as Christianity, but their core beliefs and how they define those words are far from Biblical Christianity.

    Ya, it's weird because they believe that God the Father procreated with Mary, yet the BOM says that Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit. That's not the only contradiction in their belief system.

    Jesus and Satan were spirit brothers. Satan rebelled because God, the Father chose Jesus to save Humans.
    Men become Gods through their works and eventually get their own planet. Much like our God, who used to be a man himself. Then you get to invite your favorite wife into the afterlife and spend eternity having little babies and populating their planet.

    If I did not already understand mormonism, and had not thoroughly studied it, there now would be no need. You cleared it all up.

    Thumbs up

    In David Taylor's post he said;

    He also summed much of the belief up well. It is however, important to realize the change that took place several years ago related to the part of his post I quoted above.

    The Mormon doctrine was re-defined to use many of the same words as mainstream Christianity. This makes it difficult for some people to understand why they should not agree to attend the church that these nice, well groomed, compelling young people are inviting them too.

    This approach is particularly effective for the unchruched, or those who may have been raised in church but have drifted away. Mormon 'missionaries' often focus outreach efforts on Sunday morning when they can find people who are not in fellowship.
