God woke me up at 4 in the morning...

To tell me to check into something in answer to a pray I prayed when I went to bed. Though I was awake for a long time afterwards...it was worth it. And it panned out!

Without getting into a long complicated posts I'll just say I was able to get my son some badly needed winter clothes today and a new hoody too. (he loves wearing hoodies) and he got to get some brand name clothes that apparently he has been wanting for a long time but hadn't said anything about...AND they were on sale!

The poor kid has also gone no where for a week except to the doctor's due to having this flu so I think just getting out of this house helped perk him up too. While his coughing is better, when he does cough it still sounds bad...he is to return to school Monday. He tried playing some with a friend ..throwing a ball around but after a bit said his chest started hurting so on that he could still use some prayers. But I think getting out and getting some fresh air and just being out and about helped alot. Sometimes the spirit needs a little energy boost too ..

I love you SO much Lord..not just in the good time, in the hard times too..I think you know that.

We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated?" - D A Carson

Glad to know things are looking up for Nate, and praising the LORD for His personal involvement and care.

Yes, I know what you mean about the 4am prayers and what a blessing they are.

Re: God woke me up at 4 in the morning...

I have been waking up at 4-5am every morning, sometimes i go back to sleep. When i do wake up at that time, i tend to feel better during the day than sleeping in.

I have been told by my mother and sister, that it is God wanting to spend time with me. I just don't know if I'm just suppose to pray or what?
I don't like to worship very much, not rely my style. I rely don't like to read, I read like 10 pages an hour.

I feel like I'm missing something tho, anyone got an idea?

This happened to me this morning, but at 5:20am! I think when I'm woken up that early for no reason, and I feel very well rested and everyone is asleep, it's "reflection time". I do things I enjoy, and I find that I always find myself talking to God and ending up very happy those times. I never really realized it until now.
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

I did the same a little this morning. I just talked to God. I don't rely pray or worship at all. I might pray tomorrow, or at least make the effort. He has been waking me up every dang day, witch gets annoying. For the past week or two, it has been 5, 5:30, 4, 5, 5, 5, 4:30, 5. Not my normal sleep schedule. I am used to waking up at 10-12am, now with a simple notion, God has changed it dramatically and he is jealous. Now he want's my time to be with him every morning.

I can't say much other than....you gotta love him. Lol

    God Bless,
    Gavin

If you have an iPod or anything you use to listen to music, why don't you have that ready next to your bed with some worship music on it then when you wake up like this put on your headphones and listen to it and mentally praise the Lord? Part of being a Christian is praising Him...that is all through the bible.

    Exodus 15:2
The LORD is my strength and song,And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him.

    Judges 5:3
“Hear, O kings! Give ear, O princes!I, even I, will sing to the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel.

    2 Samuel 22:4
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.

    Ezra 3:11
And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the LORD: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever toward Israel.” Then all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.

That is a very small sample.

In our history as human beings we praise great athletic stars..we praise actors, we praise our kids, we have a special day set aside to honor and praise fathers and mothers...bosses, past presidents and the list goes on and on...yet when it comes to praises our God who put all these people here to start with we hesitate...why? We can say, job well done to a family member but not God, the Creator of all things?

When we praise God we do this by thanking Him for anything and everything we can think of...we honor Him, we acknowledge His Sovereignty...His purity, His power. We also acknowledge our relationship with Him as His adopted children and should show great gratitude for that because if God was fair..none of us would be saved...we would get what we deserve.

Apparently He wants you to pray...talk to Him and worship Him...that is part of being a Christian...and its wonderful when you make that connection with Him. That is what you are missing. Having a relationship with Him. Don't keep ignoring Him.

Watch this video...and consider what He created for us. How can you not praise Him after seeing this?

You say you don't really like to worship and it's not your style. Can I ask, what do you consider worship to be?

Here you have said it again - you say: I just talked to God but I don't really pray or worship. And I am kind of laughing (not AT you though) because talking to God IS praying, walknolonger! I get the sense that you maybe think praying is something different than just talking to Him and that worship is always some long, drawn out affair. If you take two seconds out of your day to thank Him for something, you HAVE just worshiped!
And I have a suggestion. If reading is hard for you, you can get the bible on audio cd's or dvd's. And if you read, just read one or two paragraphs and then think on them and what they might mean and ask God to help you understand what He wants you to know from them. Eventually, He will start to recall to you what you have read a little at a time and explain it to you. But you don't have to sit down and read for an hour or worry about if you are praying right. If you are talking to Him, like I said, you ARE praying!

The kind of "Worship" I'm thinking of is when you shout and praise the lord when you listening or making music.

I rarely shout it out loud. I know some people do, but I'm more quiet. I am sometimes thanking Him with all my heart for saving me or for getting me through a tough time and teaching me and yet no one around me even knows I am talking to Him and thanking Him. You don't worry about how other people do it, you just talk to Him. He wants your heart - if He has that, He doesn't care if you yell out loud. He can hear your every thought!
