When I see world events showing us that it's the end times I see many that are happy because they believe that Jesus will come back soon. They are looking for Jesus. Shouldn't we be on the lookout for the son of perdition?

No, not for the son of perdition. We have a blessed hope to be united with Christ when he comes. This event is imminent. It can happen any day. But if we wait for the tribulation and the antichrist instead, then our imminent blessed hope can not happen any day. This is one of the important reasons why I believe in the pre-tribulation rapture.

Many birth pains, (aka signs) will occur beforehand, so that you know that they will first occur before the baby (Christ) appears.
Noone will have an excuse of not being prepared when Christ returns.
Christ warned us to be ready, to be watchful, and to be waiting for His return....whether it be morning, noon, or night; we should be ready and not drunken nor fallen asleep.
Continue to share the gospel with the lost; as long as the Lord tarries...that should however, be our focus, as opposed to becoming preoccupied with looking and searching for signs. Those who are Christ's won't be surprised; but likewise, they too will be working in those fields, right up until the harvest, working to draw one more wayward sinner to repentance!!!!!

BTW I believe that this leader will appear to be very good. This will be confusing to many of us. He may even take money from the rich and give to the poor. He will be a man of peace.

Ok here goes, this is my first time doing this. i was called by god in a dream to go on the net and preach.
What you are suggesting is a good point, however let me remind you that you should not put all your energy into watching for the antichist. be happy and healthy in the knowlegde that you will be raptured. Now on a more serious note, i will be breacking down and decribing the tribulation in the hopes that those who read it, will come to christ. feel free to help me with this.

The Focus is on the Blessed Hope.. His Return.. for His Bride... and when the focus is on that.. you will know and undertand that these other events will happen...
before God Himself will Birth Something there is always going to be tribulation... and persecution.... pain....
Jesus relates this to a woman giving Birth.. and after the Birth there is Joy..
the same thing with the Coming of the Kingdom of God... from Heaven with His Armies and Saints..
the son of perdition will make his appearance in God's Perfect Timing
as God will allow him to come forward so that His Word will be fulfilled...
If you are Genuninely His.. you will 'know' and 'understand' these things as they begin to happen and pick up speed... the birth pangs...
and you will start to look up with anticipation and excitement as the Day is coming when you will See your Redeemer Face to Face....
are you ready for that Day?
the people on this earth during Jacobs Trouble.. will be looking for a Saviour when they realize and see the one who 'sets' himself as 'god'.. is not who he is.. they will be looking for a Redeemer.. and that will Jesus the Christ as the Heavens Part and He is Revealed from Heaven with His armies and Saints...
this is one of the reasons He went to the Cross.. He came not ONLY to Redeem His Own from their Sins.. but also the Sins of the World...
and He will at the End.. as man driven by satan himself.. will almost bring mankind to the brink of destruction... this done by satan in his quest to be like the 'Most High'...
but Blessed Be Lord Jesus Christ.. who shall intervene from Heaven and Save this planet and those Nations that will Serve Him..
this all revealed in the Revelation of Jesus the Christ...
Revelation= means the 'unveiling'.. and this will be Public and in Power and Glory..
Many appear Righteous and Just because they say 'yes' to Jesus Christ , yet they don't do His Will.

So, what about the falling away and the many that will be deceived? All looking for Jesus and here comes the counterfeit! Yay! He looks like Jesus, acts like Jesus, is very very nice and he has a really neat way of re-interpreting scripture too. What great and popular leader he will be. I believe that it will be hard to resist this person. In fact ALL will bow to him except those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of LIFE

Our focus is on Our Lord and Savior but are we looking for His return or the son of perdition to arrive in the flesh?
In Paul's day people quit their jobs and didn't bother planting because they were expecting the return of the Lord. Paul told them that the son of perdition would be revealed 1st-Get back to work!!

Identity crisis
Being open for the Holy Spirit to reveal opportunities to share Christ with others and continue in close relationship with Him (Prayer, reading the Word, etc.) keeps me centered on what He would have me do with my time here.
I do not worry about who what where is the Anti-Christ.
The spirit of anti-christ has been alive and well for a long long time.
Do you have the gift of discernment, or have you asked the Lord for spiritual discernment?
He gives very good gifts to His children....

The man of sin must first be revealed before Jesus comes.
2 Thess 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Thank you for all the scripture references! We need to love the Lord with our whole heart and yet be discerning that THE MAN OF SIN will come first.
Revelation 13:7
