    Trying to Discover the Affect

I have been meditating on this thought for a long while. I am trying to see how grossly it affects the believer's walk of trust and relationships we have in the Kingdom.

I started first by trying to define negative connotation of pride in reference to how it affects us. I summed it up by saying pride ultimately wants its glory, things to boast of, not be embarrashed, and never have a bad light shined on it. Pride usually tries to make a show of itself or at least not get caught slipping and falling.

Now as to it affect on us.......well.... I hear it when we say things like I am such and such, I have such and such, I know such and such. I am not saying all this is pride, but a lot of it is.......

I believe it is one of the reasons believers are commanded to stay humble and walk in humility. Why, because the pride in our unregenerate nature is always looking for the occasion to exalt and promote itself. Hence, even unconsciously we remain in rebellion against God if we do not walk humility, because pride will continue to submit to the authority of another continously.

I am still trying to collect thoughts on this issue and I continue to pray for insight. Now can you humble saints help a brother out.

What do you know about pride? Thanks!

When it comes to prIde the 'I' s have it all.
Even if 'I' exalt Christ, it is prIde.
Yes, He is exalted and 'we are but beggars'. (ML).

I agree with Crossnote, Mani. It's ALL about Jesus. Anytime our focus deviates off of Him and onto us, even if it's what we are DOING for Him, pride is driving the bus, not the Holy Spirit.

amen...sadly, pride is driving the bus more than we might think...even in our salvation we tend focus more on us (going to heaven) than, is god being glorified...we pray for our family and friends to be saved so they won't go to hell (it's about them) instead of for them to be saved so god can be glorified...

PRIDE... ??? what have I been taught about 'pride'... mmmm lets see...

Pride is root core of sin.. if you trace it all the way back to Genesis...thru the OT...... it was introduced by the Evil one.. introduced to the human race.. in the Garden of Eden...

out of pride grows 'Envy'... if one is envious.. then pride will be the core or source of that envy.. this on a 'spiritual' level..

Thats why God in ALL humility sent His Son to to this Earth.. from stepping out of Glory into Time.. from that lowly stable to the humilitating physical death at Golgotha.. humility humility humility...

Humility deafeated Pride... at the Cross... and His Name was Jesus the Christ.. God manifest in the flesh..

today in observing ...... many talk about God.. talk about Jesus.. many have the 'focus' of their 'salvation' on 'THEM'...

it is 'I' who came to God on my own Power..

it is 'I' who made a decision for God....

it is 'I' who keeps myself and it is 'I' in whom 'my' salvation is in tact....

as observation goes on day after day... from this.. I believe this type of 'gospel', 'belief system'... its root core and foundation is 'pride' itself.. with its spiritual orgin found in the Evil One himself..

Man in his pride.. induced and inticed by the evil one... has come to the conclusion.... that he/she can save himself... and keep themselves saved... reaching Heaven on their own power.. with God becoming second fiddle player to man...

Salvation, and the merits of it.. begin and end with man...

This is very evident today.. and that, if you want to classify it...

is Pride.. at its fullest... and its most diabolical form...

One does not have to go very far to see this manifested.. and if you watch TV, listen to the radio, or browse the internet..observing and discerning that which calls itself 'christianity'... one will begin to see and see it clearly manifested... and this just goes to show.. and it is evident that the TIMES we live in.. are culminating to the soon Return of the King of kings from Heaven itself.. with His Armies and Saints..

Pride driven and fueled by the evil one.. will have man on the brink of destruction..

and God will let man go on in his/her folly...

and God will 'judge' man's folly..

as he/she rejects the True God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob

Pride in its most diabolical form.. says to onesefl....

I have 'become my own little god'...

man in his/her true nature is 'fallen' and the only way out of that 'state' is thru the Blood of the Lamb.. Christ Jesus... and what He accomplished on that bloody tree..

Salvation belongs God Himself.. He is the Author and Finisher.. no matter how hard man in his deceptive subtle pride thinks otherwise..

this is what I"ve been humbly taught what Pride is... and what 'its' all about.. and the 'source' of it...
Many appear Righteous and Just because they say 'yes' to Jesus Christ , yet they don't do His Will.

I find this a great struggle especially when one is actually not as well learned in the subtleness of evil within thesmselves........ This is what actually led me into this direction. As a minister, people often approach me offering me critiques both ways. I have found myself not wanting to be either religious or prideful. I am trying to learn humility.

    Pride bring blindness.
Pride makes us want to lead when God has not lead us.
Pride makes us want to speak when God has not spoken.
Pride makes us want to be seen, when God wants us to be hidden.
Pride make us more concerned with the praises of men then of God.
Pride make us have faith in our ability to know, to understand Him and His word.
Pride causes God to resist us.

Humility is like being struck in the face in insult and offering the other cheek. Like one being fulled up with insults to the full and not striking back, but rather being concerned for the judgment that might fall on the one giving the insults.
Humility is knowing nothing, that God has not made alive in you.
Humility is being less important then everyone else, expendable for the sake of love.
Humility is honoring God knowing that everyone else will point the finger at you and say ITS PRIDE.
Humility is loving those you know will reject you.

That's all Ive got, so far.
God willing I will go farther.
    God willing we all will.
