Homemade Christmas gifts you have recieved.

Do you all like homemade Christmas gifts? What kind of homemade gifts have you recieved? My mom has made me afhgan (sp?) and throw pillows over the years. My wife made me a quilt, something like you would see at Bas Pro Shop.My father in law makes deer jerky,I get that quite often for Christmas.I have got all these for gifts over the years and love them. I've been thinking about making some hilking and walking sticks next year.I've made some beef jerky for Christmas gifts that folks enjoyed. What kind of homemade Christmas gifts have you recieved or given?

Knitted scarves and gloves, framed cross-stitch, jams,
and many precious handmade gifts from our kids.

The only handmade gift I wasn't crazy about was a fruit cake from dh's grandma she shipped from CA to Germany one year when we were living there. Fruitcake--ick! lol!

Dh and I are actually making a few handmade gifts for friends and family this Christmas. Hope they enjoy them, too.

I don't think anybody likes fruitcake,...homemade or store bought! I always felt that homemade and handmade are gifts with a very personal touch. One of the first gifts my wife made was a quillow,it's a pillow, and a quilt at the same time.I still have and carry it on camping trips.I love it! Anybody can buy a gift from a fine jeweler,or Wal-Mart for us poor folks, but I like the idea of homemade gifts. It brings out the original meaning of Christmas to me,that fancy presents or presents in general isn't what Christmas is about.

In addition to store bought gifts I usually make fruitcakes. It's not your typical fruitcake, it has mariscino cherries and chocolate chips, raisins, walnuts. Everyone who says they don't like fruitcake, eats it and always wants me to make them more.

Yes, now that sounds like a fruit cake I would like to eat.
Its those nasty little candied fruit bits that spoil it, I believe.
