What good are the premiere defencemen if they aren't familiar with the goal tender's preferences between covering up and putting back into play? More than any fact about team Canada so far, the one that concerns me the most is the amount of practice they'll have together before the trumpets blast.

    I also (as always) dislike the Olympic size rink dimensions. I'd much prefer Canadians could continue their fine tradition of grinding bones and souls to homogeneous goo against the boards.
    Well then you'll be fine with this Olympics, as they are playing on the NHL rink at GM Place. Some hockey analysts think this could favour Canada and the US, but with so many Europeans in the NHL I hardly see any particular advantage.

    Is it a fact that its NHL size?, or just assuming based on the rink? Most NHL rinks can be modified, bleachers removed, etc

    When do the games start?
    The minstrel boy to the war is gone,
    In the ranks of death ye will find him;
    His father's sword he hath girded on,
    And his wild harp slung behind him;
    "Land of Song!" said the warrior bard,
    "Tho' all the world betray thee,
    One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard,
    One faithful harp shall praise thee!

    They are maintaining the NHL size. I do not think they can modify it without some severe renovations, and being right in the middle of the NHL season would make that problematic. Calgary got away with it since they built the Saddledome especially for the Games. I believe it is standard size now though.
