Thread: What does the Bible say about dreaming?

What does the Bible say about dreaming?

I know there are instances where God or Angels came to people in a dream and told them to do things. But does it say anything else about dreaming?

I have been having these reoccuring dreams for years. From what I've read it usually arises from a problem somewhere supposedly. My dreams are me back at high school. Its the first day of a new trimester. I know this because I can recognize people and teachers in I see in classrooms. Anyway the dream always ends with me not being able to find some of my classes and I usually leave school early skipping them.

Just curious if there are any versus about dreaming.

I had the same dream last night. Or similar. I didn't write down my schedule and kept missing classes and forgot about a couple my classes. In my dream few months later I realize that I haven't been to a few courses and now what can I do! Try to make it up some how? Stressful!

Not that I know of. When God gives a dream he also supplies an interpretation. If he does not, then the dream is not from him. It's probably something you went through during childhood which probably caused you some trauma? I too have recurrent dreams of University exams coming up and I wasn't prepared and had to cram and fail. One of my regrets.
Tit 3:2 to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.

Thats crazy because I dream too that I've been missing months of school and am stressed about it. I did have a very dramatic time when I was 2. I believe it is the cause of all my social anxiety and generalized anxiety. I am going to make a post about it in the counceling forum because I believe it has been the cause of a lot of problems I have had. Here is the thread if any of you would like to read it http://bibleforums.org/showthread.ph...64#post2318864

There are tons of verses in the Bible about dreams. Here are a couple of them. There are ways for you to search the Bible for all verses with the word "dream" or "dreams" or "dreamed". One website you can search is www.blueletterbible.org Once you are at the website, in the top right of the screen it says "search the Bible", just type in the word or words you are looking for and hit enter and every verse in the Bible that uses the word you are interested in will come up.

Ecc 5:3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.

Jer 29:8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

    Hope this helps!

    Bless you,

If you don't have a Strong's try KJV www.blueletterbible.org, or maybe ESV http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/

You'll see that the Bible attitude to dreams is mixed, sometimes they're okay, sometimes they can't be trusted.
    God bless

    Dreams are usually trouble.

Jacob had a dream while sleeping in a temple dedicated to Babylon's tower/society (while on the run from his brother) and it was a good one.

Joseph, his son, had a dream and it got him into trouble. (sold into slavery)
Josephs cell mates had dreams and well...one helped him eventually when Pharaoh had one he coulnd't figure out...but seven years of famine really isn't a good thing. (as well as the ongoing 20% tax on food there today...it never was lifted in the region)

Nebadchaneezar had a dream and it almost got Daniel and his frieds killed.

The Magi had a dream and so Herod sought to kill all the jewish babies

Pilate's wife had a dream....no one listented to her.
Peter had a dream and ignored it...and later Paul had to take him to task over the issue in the dream.

All I know is that I usually don't like dreams myself. The voices are calling out my name and they are yelling and shouting and...well...it isn't ever pleasant.

let's not turn it into pagan superstition. it's not healthy.

retelling synopsis of scripture is not doing that in the least fashion.

Abimelech recieved a warning with scripture that "He was as good as a dead man if he didn't return Abraham's wife"

These are the stories the bible tells of dreams. How that is turning it into a pagan superstition I haven't the foggiest clue.
