As you know, I recently went through 6 months of chemo, and I would highly recommend checking into nutritional supplementation. Some chemos hit the body very hard. And in rare cases the chemo kills, and even when it doesn't, it can make you very sick and induce long-lasting side-effects. I started taking some supplements between my 2nd and 3rd months of chemo. The 2nd month hit me so hard I knew I wouldn't make it unless I did something. Please, do your body a favor and don't do chemo alone - take nutritional supplements. I have a book you need to start reading NOW! It is called What Your Doctor doesn't know about Nutritional Medicine may be killing you by Dr. Ray Strand. The book is a good start, although all he really takes about are vitamines and mineral supplements. There are also some very powerful herbs which can help - like ginger for the nausa. Why would you be willing for this doctor to inject poison into your body, yet refuse to ingest good nutrients which the Creator designed to work with the defense/repair mechanisms inside your body? Remember, Jesus said, "Man shall not live by bread alone." Notice that Jesus did not say that man can live without bread (nutrition). God designed the physical body to build, maintain, and repair itself via food (good nutrintion). All I am doing is recommending that you take in some really good stuff.

I consider myself to be a living, walking experiment. I am still taking a number of things (since my cancer is consider incurable), and for whatever reason, my oncologist says I am one of the very best patients he has ever seen with this form of cancer. But let me tell you - I went through what seemed a literal hell before I came out the other side. You need to do now what you can, to try to come out the other side as healthy as possible. I recommend getting that book now.

Thank you Bandit, I will look for that book. Maybe I can order it on line. I have been anxious about doing the chemo.

Thank you all for your prayers. I got the MRI over with this evening. I won't know the results until next week. Hoping and praying for good news.

All of your prayers do give me strength and courage. I thank our God for you all.

I tried to post earlier but was not feeling good, had some nausea from the pain meds. But feeling better right now.

The doctors visit went well. I had been quite nervous before I went. Though I most certainly felt your prayers, they gave me courage and comfort. Dr. Luedke was very nice, compassionate and explained things well. Though it was frightening to hear what he had to say. Even though the mass in my lung was very small he explained with that type of cancer there are 100's of thousands of cancer cells in that small tumor. And because it had spread to lymph nodes in my lung that it is possible it has already spread to other lymph nodes in my body. And the best way to combat it is to do chemotherapy. Which they will give my body time to heal from the surgery before we start. So we will probably start chemo in about 4 weeks. Though I am scheduled to do an MRI of my brain to check for cancer cells there. (That is for tomorrow afternoon at 6:00 p.m.) That was frightening to think about. But I will keep the hope that there is no cancer in my brain or anywhere else. And I will trust in God. I know He is with me every step of the way.

I asked Dr. Luedke if he was a Christian and by his reply I dont believe he is. He only asked did it matter. I just repled that Joe and I are Christian and that we had asked the Lord on who to see and we had been led to him .
Though it made me sad that he is not Christian, (I would have felt better if he was) he is an excellent doctor and I will trust him because God led me to him. And I hope I will be a testimony for God to him. As well as all others I will meet as I go through this battle with cancer.

I go back to the doctor on the 18th, too see surgeon for follow up and see the oncologist nurse practictioner for chemo regimine. And will see Dr. Luedke on the 24th. I will update later as I know more.

I do so appreciate all of your prayers. Thank you and may our God bless you all greatly.
I am thankful to our God for all of you.

    Love, Deb
You know the Lord will pick the best doctor for you..doesn't mean he has to be a believer though as God works through anyone..remember that. I am sure you could think of a dozen examples of this in the bible.

I will be praying for you on this..

    God bless

We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated?" - D A Carson

    Hi,

I am praying that this goes as easy as possible (whatever that might mean). We live in a fallen world and cancer is just another concequence of the fall. But you already know all this. I know God will help you through whatever you will go through, but still, as I said before, learn about the benefits of good nutrition and start doing as much you can now. Even your current recovery from surgery would benefit. Even just the basics (a good multivitamin/multimineral) would help you heal. I know one woman who is doing chemo for the 3rd time for her triple-negative breast cancer. I talked to her and got her to start taking some of the basic stuff (vitamins, minerals, and antioxidents) just before she started this 3rd, 4 month, go-round. I saw her at about the halfway point and both she and her husband told me that for whatever reason (though they believe it is the supplements), this chemo session is not hitting her as hard as the previous 2. She has more energy so far and is not quite as sick. That alone helps alot with the positive mental attitude which helps the body in its fight. So remember, take things into your own hands by learning and doing what you can, and ask God to cover the rest. These things aren't cures, but they can help.

Thank you all so very much for your prayers.
It's been 5 weeks since surgery. I am doing really good. Praise God. Still a little sore, my ribs especially but I'm doing so much better.

I saw the oncologist this afternoon and will start chemotherapy next Tuesday. Have to be there at 8:45 A.M. I am really dreading it. I was a little emotional on the way home from the doctors office. I was thinking of our Nathan on the way home and of all he went through on Chemo and missing him of course. This will be difficult in more ways than one. But I know our God is with me and He will get me through this.

I have to go, bible study tonight

Thanks again, God bless you all abundantly.

I will pray you through it Deb...... I promise that..... And I'll send you so much cards, one every other week, that you will be running out of room to put them anywhere....... We got through Nathaniel's journey together, remember? We'll do the same with yours....... and if you need to talk, I am here...... there's nothing wrong with being afraid..... Just hold on to Jesus...... ok?

    Love you very much,

Certainly will be watching and praying confidently through this chemo-course, asking for extra grace for you as you face this challenge, and praying for complete, permanent delivery and healing.

Remember, hair is over-rated, and it does grow back (usually). And a nice multi-colored wig does get one noticed in a crowd. Lots of people have been through this - some multiple times. I wish I could give you a "Get out of chemo free" card. But just hang on, and take care of yourself as much as is possible. You will have good days and bad, but hopefully you have many, many more good days ahead than bad.
