You write like Faulkner. Just beautiful. Thank You!
I will always, from this time forward, wonder what was the cause of Joseph's deep apparent sadness! He never told you?
And I wonder why he did not want you to forget him...
Sometimes I wonder how I will be remembered. Because someday, we will be just a memory to those we have known in this life...
He never told me the cause of his sadness. I often wonder when my memory reminds me of Joseph and that day in my young life. I'm made to think that somehow his inherent view of life gave him newness from the sadness. His chuckle at the excitement of anticipation from us children over the music contraption gives me hope for him. Why he reached out to a little girl in that moment is more telling of his giving character.
Thank you for taking the time to read my depiction of a memory held dear.
Beautiful, simply beautiful my friend!
Love you lots,
Mieke![]()
Sometimes we don't know why, although the truth of it is plain yet the fullness isn't known. We just have to keep on, in hope that someday we will understand.
Until then, we have still been touched, still been given something to cherish today.
Beautifully written, a pleasure to read!
Love your writing!!!!!!!!!!!!
As I read this I felt happy that as a child
you were acknowledged and NOT invisible as most kids were in those years.
Yet, I felt scared that he could have been grooming you for abuse some other day.
Sorry if that upsets anyone......but it happened back in those days too unfortunately.![]()
I understand how you could think that. As my grandson says, "Back in the day, Grannie...". Those were times of safety and peace when families walked around town to visit friends. My brother and I walked all over town with no thought of danger or fear of strangers because we never met a stranger, only friends.
Thank you for reading and liking my writing. Blessings.
