    Superbowl questions..snack ideas..

I do not watch football or any sports except maybe the Olympics. I have no idea who is going to be playing or anything either..but I need to find out cause next Sunday evening my church small groups is having a Super bowl party to watch the game. I am clueless..and not interested at all in watching the game..but will go at least for awhile mostly cause I was invited and like being with my small group people..plus I never get invited to any parties at all either.. My son will be going to youth group to have a SB party too at church that evening also. The kids don't have school the next day (drats) so I can't use that as an excuse to leave early to go get him. I really don't want to be doing this for five hours or more...the cheering on TV which sounds like a roar really gets on my nerves. I figure I will stay a couple of hours though before I bow out. But I need some ideas like who is playing..what is going on..

Many years ago when I was in high school I did watch football and actually understood what was going on..I think I have forgotten even the basic stuff of a football game though.. Also not sure what if I should cheer for a certain team or just watch everyone else cheering..lol. Since I don't really care..I think it would be not right for me to cheer at all actually. I have a real problem with football players getting paid so much while teachers, police, fire fighters, etc, get paid so little anyway..really bothers me. But like I said, I am not going for the game but just to socialize with the people in my small group.

And what kind of snacks I should bring..I can't have anything with cheese so no chips and cheese dip. Nate also has to take snacks too. So what kind of snacks are popular with these games? This is going to be awkward so I am posting to ask for tips and stuff..thanks.

    God bless

I'm not a football watcher by any stretch of the imagination, but I always try to watch the Superbowl. I'd say at least give the game a chance and you might remember why you used to watch it back in the day.

Last time I watched the Superbowl I made a big vat of my Muai Loco Guacamole Grande Primo Ariba.
For a party of 4 people I'd make it something like this...
    - 4 avacados
    - 1.5 large tomatoes or 2 mediums
    - 1 large red onion
    - 2 Serrano peppers
    - A big ole handful of cilantro. Be generous
    - 2 squeezed limes
    - 3 cloves of garlic (preferably larger cloves)

Chop everything as fine as you possibly can and then give it a good stir.

I always make a big bowl of "PUKE"!

    Bowl
    Salsa (Hotter the BETTER)
    Cream Cheese

Put the cream cheese in the bowl, mash it up some with a fork.

Pour in the Salsa and then mix the whole mixture up.

ALTERNATE: I sometimes squeez a few limes into the mix to add this to the flavor.

Do NOT, melt the cream cheese before adding the Salsa!!!!

The point of this dip is to have the "chunks" in the dip... thus the name: PUKE!

Hey, give me a break! You put a bunch of Infantrymen together making a dip for a party and we adapt and overcome...

This dip has always been a favorite where ever I bring it!

One of my favorite cooking blogs, Pinoeer Woman, has some really yummy appetizers. You should check it out. My fav is bacon wrapped, cream cheese stuffed japapenos. But maybe that's too stomach burning? They're really yummy, at any rate!

I make these but use regular cheese. Then I smoke them in the smoker for an hour and coat with sauce (No, don't ask).

Moonglow... most of the Buffalo Wing dips you can find on the internet are good to and if heat is questionable, use a BBQ sauce ya like instead of the Wing Sauces that their are... unless you can find a mild one, the flavor is still good.

Ok let me reinstate this a different way again.....how about snacks for wimps? That don't want spicy and NO CHEESE ...

That sounds good but the host is going to be serving chili..so everyone is bringing just snack foods and drinks.

    And no cricket you guys...blah..

And NO ONE suggest frog legs either...

Can't go wrong with Pigs in a Blanket - Lil Smokies wrapped in crescent roll dough and baked. Just add honey mustard, regular mustard, and/or gourmet mustard for dipping.

Depending on the pocketbook, make a lot, everyone loves these. And they are so easy.

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around chocolate covered crickets.

I thought about suggesting crawfish, moonglow, in a sauce, served over fried green tomatoes. I'm not kidding, it is a very popular appetizer at my fav seafood restaurant.

I do like frog legs, too. But I'm partial to cajun cooking.
