Is the King James Version of the Bible easier to understand than the Updated New American Standard Bible?

I will preface this answer with the statement that the KJV has stood the test of time, so there is a good translation there if you look for an idea for idea type of translation and you are willing to make extensive use of the Greek and Hebrew Lexicons to see what was actually said. The English of the 1600s is not the English we speak and requires extensive study to understand the root meaning of the time period. In the case of the NASB, it is as close as you can get to a word for word translation and having been written in today's English, it is easily understood and is one of my favorites.
No, but I don't have a problem with either UNLESS I want to get to the true meaning of a word or do an in depth study, but still not a big deal.

Not sure why you are asking between these 2 versions, there are MANY more...
If I were on a desert island I would probably want the KJV. Since I am not, I like the NKJV. It maintains the power of the KJV, in a language that is easily understood.

I personally wouldn't recommend the KJV. There are many archiac verses in it like BroRog mentioned, and I've seen many people misunderstand what it's trying to say right here on this forums when quoting from the KJV. E.g. "manstealers" actually means kidnappers, not people who steal another woman's husband. And many other things like this.
If you're open to other versions, I highly recommend the ESV. It is literal, yet easy to understand.
Tit 3:2 to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.
