is weight loss surgery a sin?

    Hello All,
I'm a former morbidly-obese woman who had gastric bypass on 3/25/08
and have since lost 165 lbs. I also host a weekly radio program about
weight loss surgery, and tonight's topic is "God and WLS (weight loss
    surgery)."

I've often heard the fellow post-op patients have run into the
argument that weight loss surgery is a sin - that our bodies are
temples from God that we should not be altering. Disclaimer: I do
not personally believe that. However, I am very interested to hear
the opinions of people within the religious communities about their
    thoughts on this.

Please feel free to leave a comment here, or if you'd like to call
into the show tonight, I welcome polite and respectful discussion on
the topic! You can listen to the show live at
beginning at 7:00pm EST, and the call-in #

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

    Cheers,

Is a heart transplant a sin??? kidneys, Liver???etc....??? , No, Not if it saves lives and GOD is all about life, Jesus said " I am the way, the truth and the life" If GOD wasn't all about life there would be no salvation.

I don't think so, no. However, consider that such surgery may fix a problem while leaving the source of that problem untouched.
