    Ignore feature

When we have people on ignore, we do not see their posts, however, we DO see their posts when someone quotes them. It's only a partial ignore since I see what they write as I browse threads and see other people's responses to them.

I would like to make a suggestion to have the quoted portion be blocked as well.

    Would that be a possibility?

    Thanks

While I'm not an admin, I know enough about the quote functionality to know its too easily fudged to be blocked. A post is intrinsically linked to a user profile. A quote is really nothing more than a quick copy with formatting. Notice how I was able to change both your name and the content in your above post? That's because its not really quoting your post, its copying the text and wrapping format tags around it.

    I'll give you another example.

Yep. In those cases you have to rely on the original internet ignore feature. Sitting on your hands or scrolling really fast.

EDIT: I'm glad I'm not the one you're ignoring.

Incidentally, you can also see the posts of people on your ignore list by looking at the right hand side of where the post should be. You'll see a "show this post" option.

    Ahhhhh temptation....

There was a guy over at JREF who's tagline read "[a certain member] exists to me only in quoted form". I always loved that one.
It is only the cynic who claims “to speak the truth” at all times and in all places to all men in the same way, but who, in fact, displays nothing but a lifeless image of the truth… He dons the halo of the fanatical devotee of truth who can make no allowance for human weaknesses; but, in fact, he is destroying the living truth between men. He wounds shame, desecrates mystery, breaks confidence, betrays the community in which he lives, and laughs arrogantly at the devastation he has wrought and at the human weakness which “cannot bear the truth”. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, in Ethics.

    Ok - that's funny.

    But I gotta ask - what's JREF?
