The lesson from Luke 19:1-10 is NOT that Jesus loves Zaccheus. The message from this passage is NOT that Jesus loves us when no one else would. This totally misses the actual point of the passage. The passage speaks about a Jewish tax gatherer, who repented and demonstrated his repentance through action, giving half his possessions to the poor and etc. The practical lesson to draw, if one exists, is to think about how we should react to being forgiven for our sins and how true repentance involves a change of behavior and lifestyle.
