This question is asked... your answer?

While attending a Christian Faith Convention, a person walks up to you and explains that they are one of the guest speakers during the event. Then they ask you this question...

Why do you believe the Bible to be true?

How would you answer in reply to this question?

Because the intro to the KVJ 1611 says that it is the best thing available at the time but will necessarily need revision in the future...

    Let's see....

First, you probably won't find me at a Christian Faith Convention.
As to the question, the evidence is overwhelming that the Bible is either exactly what it claims to be or the most elaborate hoax every dreamed up, a self-perpetuating perfect myth.

Given those options, I take Ocham's Razor every time.

I would have to say that I honestly didn't always believe the Bible to be true before I was saved.
1 Corinthians 2:14-"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

But after I was saved I understood that the things written in the Bible were from God.
Hebrews 4:12-"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."
2 Ti mothy 3:16-"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,.."
Romans 15:4-"For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope."
2 Peter 1:20-21-"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."

I believe by faith that the Bible is the truth spoken from the mouth/heart of God.

Yeah, I just had to set a location setting where Christians would be gathered.

I have no idea what Ocham's Razor is and I have a feeling my dictionary isn't gonna help me.

Hey Karen, not to pick on you but would you pull all these scriptures out of your head while you were standing there answering this question?

ok. I didn't always believe the Bible spoke truth until I was saved. Now I believe it is the written Word of God by faith.
And if you don't like that story there is always Ocham's Razor....

Literarture - The consistencies throughout a book written by a vast number of authors over a period extending several thousand years without contradiction is unheard of.

Historically - Nothing has ever been provided to prove the events in history didn't happen. Even secular historians use scriptures for dating.

Archeology - Nothing has ever been brought forth to suggest the events did not happen in the Bible just as they are written. Secular archeologists use the Bible, and trust it as an authorative source.

Mathematically - The chances of the prophecies (just concerning Christ) (over 200 of them) coming true centuries later are literally astronomical. Sir Fredrick Hoyle (a secular mathematician) also showed that the chances of evolution creating a single protein required for a single strain of DNA are so astronomical that there has not been enough time or space since the supposed beginning of time for it to happen, much less the complex DNA structures we see that are the basic building blocks of life.

Ocham's Razor - States that "entities must not be multiplied beyond necessity" and the conclusion thereof, that the simplest solution is usually the correct one.

    Because I haven't found a falsity yet...so, yeah, it's true.
Actually, I would probably ask him. 'why do you ask'? You never know, he may be a flaming liberal.

The bible can not be proven to be false. Jesus affirmed the validity of the OT.

The bible was able to make me wise unto salvation something no other book could aspire to. The bible is unique in its ability to bring about change in the lives of those who receive it.

No other book on earth provokes so strong a reaction in those who hear it. All must react either positive or negative but none go unaffected.
