    Military Service

    How many of you have been in the military? I was in the U.S. Army Infantry from 1998 until 2002 and was with 2/22 Inf. in the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, NY and for the last period was with the 172nd Inf. Brigade Separate at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

    Thank you for your service to our nation. I have a nephew in the Navy right now, the closet I got to being in the military was taking the ASVAB all 4 years of high school. I always wanted to go in myself but my wheelchair prevented me.

    I was in the US Army with the 514th Signal Company from 2004-2006 and then a field detachment from USASOC from 2006-2008, spent my entire time in Iraq and Afghanistan with a few months of R&R at Ft.Bragg.
    The minstrel boy to the war is gone,
    In the ranks of death ye will find him;
    His father's sword he hath girded on,
    And his wild harp slung behind him;
    "Land of Song!" said the warrior bard,
    "Tho' all the world betray thee,
    One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard,
    One faithful harp shall praise thee!

    I was the E-6 clarinet section leader. Also played tenor sax in the jazz band and sang baritone in our barbershop quartet.

    I was the guy who chased down the band's music if it blew off their stands. That's how Rabbi and I met.
