Awful needy this month, need help again

I'm filling out a job application to a different hospital, been at the same one for 14 yrs....

First question...Why do I want to leave? (( cause it's horrible working conditions now, lol)) and my manager is horrible doing her job.....obviously can't put that down...need help for an intelligent answer...I have slowly lost most of my intellect over the yrs..

Second question, why do I want to work there? ( I'd be doing the same thing I do now)

I answered the why should they hire me?.... but up for any more 'intellegent' answers..

keep loosing internet all day..grrr THANKS

"Why are you leaving" is a question that's best not answered with anything you wouldn't want your current manager to read about herself, or anything that might leave your prospective new manager thinking "hmmm.... this person might be saying that about me in a few years time". If you've been in one place for 14 years you could say something like you feel ready to move on, take on a new challenge, or focus on the change in working environment in some other way. If you're moving from one department to another you could focus on that too.

That approach also helps feed into the question of why you want to work at the new place, because it will offer you that new challenge or whatever. Just be ready to quantify the new challenge the new job will offer if they ask you!

Why they should hire you - I don't know you so don't know the specific qualities you'd bring to the job that others wouldn't, although 14 years service in one place makes it very clear you're committed and reliable, and won't walk in this month and move on somewhere else next month.

Will do Mieke, don't really want to go down the road but they have been cutting staff leaving us with 12-17 pts.....My buddy is retiring, forced,

On a job freeze so whoever quits not rehiring...doesn't make to much sense if everyone but one leaves,

We are down to 2 regular staff, including me on my shift... day shift has 2 full timers and one part timer....Another reason is I have asked to return to day shift for a few months now and basically am being ignored..

That seems like the kind of thing you could mention as a reason for leaving - if the shift patterns are such that you can't get the shifts you'd prefer at all and the new place can offer them. It's not necessarily a major reason to list but something you could mention in the interview. Again, be careful you don't sound like "my useless manager is ignoring me" - look for something more like "I've been trying to get back to doing more day shifts but there are some scheduling problems which make it difficult".
