    Communion

I am looking for scripture regarding the frequency of using Communion... Is there such a scripture??
Fenris: "There are two ways to shoot an arrow into a bulls-eye You can shoot the arrow into the bulls-eye or you can shoot the arrow and paint the bulls-eye wherever it hits"

Romans 12:19 Don't seek revenge ... give place to God's wrath. For it is written "Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord"

    Isa. 30:32
And every blow of the rod of punishment, which the Lord will lay on him, will be with the music of tambourines and lyres; And in battles, brandishing weapons, He will fight them

There is no scripture directly commanding frequency, but in the absence of it, we must go by example. The early church celebrated every first day of the week, so why not do it the same and stay true to the pattern?

    all the best...

They did it on the first day of the week... read Acts 20:6,7

I would say 6 times a year would be a nice number of times to have communion.

Unfortunately there's nothing explicit. However, Acts 20:7 seems to imply that communion was celebtated weekly.

Jesus said "Do this in remembrance of me."
So I’d say there isn’t an explicit answer in regard to frequency. So churches do this weekly, some monthly, and some never (or at least never when I was there).
    Psalm 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
    be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

But the early church did it every first day of the week and that is where I take my cue. Anything else is outside the pattern.

I will not so much as darrken the door of a church that never observes communion. A red flag should go up immediately.

    Thank you all

I was looking for that verse in Acts

    AND THIS ONE.....1 Cor 11:25,26
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

I assume as oft as ye drink it can mean more than once a week..??

I was going to say 12 (1 a month) but then i thought hmm make it 1 every 2 months, i havent got any really solid answer as to why, just using my wisdom to come up with a number.
In the denomination of church that i go to we have 2 set times a year for communion 3rd sunday in march and september, we introduced another 1 in last sunday in january.
At a communion service one time as i was listening to the preacher, i cant even remember who it was (we have visiting preachers take communion from within our denomination on the 2 set dates) and i cant even remember much of the message but there is something in my mind that was said which placed such a positive benefit and importantance of the communion and having it more regulalry that i believe we should.
Remembering christs death, meeting with our brothers and sisters here below (a foretaste of what is to come in the great marriage supper of the lamb) the feeding for God that we recieve, the strengthening of our faith, our focus on Jesus, all good and the reason/s i say churches should have it 6 times a year.
I say 6 instead of 8 or 10 or more because you dont want to take it for granted and you want your preacher to teach you from scripture a lot also.

Yup one should recognize the importance and not take it for granted...
