as long as we've established chapter 8 does not say how.
Thank you!
Yeah, that's what I said.
Thank you!
No it does not, as you just admitted. Not anymore than the passage in Galatians you posted. Does it or does it not? Can't be both.
Um....it says
"if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body"
it does not say
'if ye mortify the deeds of the body'
So, how do you "mortify the deeds of the body" "through the Spirit"?

Uh... one can run around with PEACE, LOVE and TRANQUILITY posted on their forehead and without Jesus... that ain't doing anything. Once again... let's clarify... we ain't talking about unbelievers in Jesus. Honestly... I've said that how many times now so I am quite unsure why you keep saying things like this... is it just to try and score a point? I recall you used to hate that sort of thing.

No... not at all. You may not like it and there ya go. But that is the explanation. Stop doing sin... do righteousness. Do you need Scripture that says that or do you already know them... I'd be happy to provide a few. Can get some more if you want them.
1 John 3:4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.
5 And you know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin.
6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;
8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.
Romans 6:16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?
17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed,
18 and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
19 I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification.
20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.
21 Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is death.
22 But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
7 Therefore do not be partakers with them;
8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light
9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth),
10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.
1 Timothy 6:11 ¶But flee from these things, you man of God; and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate,
14 that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
1 John 2:26 These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you.
27 And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
28 And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.
29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is born of Him.
2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;
3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge;
6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness;
7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.
8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.
10 Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble;
11 for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.
Hopefully in these... you might find some "how".

No copout to it. If you can't see it you can't see it. Perhaps you are blind. Perhaps you are carnal. Perhaps you are on milk. Perhaps you aren't spiritual. Perhaps you just can't get it. Perhaps English isn't your primary language. Perhaps you are just being contentious. Perhaps I am retarded and are explaining it poorly. Perhaps many thing... but in the end all the perhaps ain't going to help anyone. One will stand before God and answer to their sin. Scripture makes it clear... God wants us to stop sinning. How? However you have to. That's silly? Call it what you will but Jesus was so passionate about the importance of STOPPING SIN that He said... if your right hand________ cut it off. Foot causes you to sin... cut it off. Eye causes you to sin... pluck it out. Jesus is making a point for folks here and an important one. Stop it... it really is that important. If you do not... enter the whole "where the worms never die" thing. Folks can hem and haw about "how" until judgment day... but the best be knocking it off. Hell to pay if you don't. Clear enough or do I need to walk one through a step by step explanation of what I mean by all of this?

Right and as we have repeatedly said, we aren't talking about someone that practices sin. So there ya go. What I said stands. A believer with some sins they don't even want to do but do because they do not know how to perform that which is good is still serving God. You have some sins. You don't want to do them but you do. Are you serving God? I'm guessing you'd say yes. So there ya go.
Thank you!
