    My New Testimony

Hey everyone! I have a new testimony. Here goes:

I was raised Southern Baptist. I went to Sunday School every Sunday and often I would pick up the Gospel tracts at the front of the church. I would take them home and read them. One day I asked my Sunday School teacher what to do to be saved and she told me to read the Gospel of John and then I would know. So I went home and did that. With help from the Gospel tracts, I prayed a prayer of salvation and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. This is when I was first "saved" according to Protestant theology. I was about age 12 when this happened.

Next, I drifted through my teen years in and out of Christianity. I tried many different denominations. None of them satisfied me. Finally, about a year after I exited college, I began to investigate Catholicism. One day, on a whim, I sent a message to a Catholic that I got his user name from a message board on. He told me that there was a line of popes going all the way back to Saint Peter. I was instantly hooked. I knew that I had found the one true Church and that I had found the historical Church. I then began my process of converting to the Catholic Church. I talked to a priest in my town and he was going to baptize me that Easter vigil. Well, I was fine with this until he told me he was going to baptize me by making the sign of the cross on my forehead. This did not sound right because I knew that Catholics do not baptize this way. So I chickened out and later that Summer, I talked to a priest in a different town. He got me signed up with a program called RCIA which stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. During that Summer, I decided to go ahead and get baptized in a Pentecostal church. I did this partly out of wanting to show my Catholic friend that I would really do it and mostly out of wanting to have my sins washed away. The baptism was valid and I was now a member of the universal Church. However, I was not yet fully initiated into the Catholic Church. I still had to be confirmed. I then went through RCIA starting in September and ending on April 15, 2006. That is when I was confirmed. I am now a full member of Christ's one true Church, the Catholic Church.

I have since been in and out of the Catholic Church. There have been times when I wanted to become Baptist again but I always end up going back to the Catholic Church. I just recently decided to go back to the Catholic Church after a short hiatus from it.

I’m a bit worried about your “one true church” statement...among other things...
    Psalm 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
    be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Why is that? Can there be more than one true Church?

    Seek ye FIRST the kingdom.
Not second or third, but first.
Only when all else pales to God, when He receives all glory,
when He is the source of all hope,
when His love is received and freely given,
holding not to the world but to the promise to come,
will all other things be added unto to you.

No, but if you'd like to discuss the differences in being Catholic or Protestant (lovingly) I am sure you'll get a great many responces. If you do start such a thread though, just pray and understand that there may be a few that don't phrase some things the way Jesus would. I myself have been known to slip up in such a way.
