    Who judges us?

"'Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.'" --John 5:22-23

"'As for those who hear my words but do not keep them, I do not judge them. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. There is a judge for those who reject me and do not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day. For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.'" --John 12:47-50

I could be missing something here, but I can't really resolve this. Does the Son judge us, or not?
"God created mankind and men created the gods. This is how it is in the world—
the men create gods and they worship their creations. It would have been more
appropriate for the gods to worship mankind!"
--Gospel of Philip 92 (Author Unknown)

    Re: Who judges us?

The reasoning of John 12.47-50 is this...
The Son's words are what judge us. [12.48]
The Son speaks only the Father's words. [12.50]
    Thus...
    ...the Father's words judge us.
    Therefore...
...the Father is our judge indirectly.
...the Son is our judge directly.
    Jesus Christ is our judge.
Matthew 16.27: "For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done."

Matthew 25.31: "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne."

Matthew 28.18: And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me."

John 5.22,27: "The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son ... And he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man."

John 8.16: "Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me."

Acts 10.42: "And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead."

2 Corinthians 5.10: For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

2 Timothy 4.1: "I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom..."

Revelation 20.11-12: Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.

God is the judge of all (Heb 12:23). But God retired as a judge in John 5:22 and gave the job to the Son. See also 2Tim 4:1 (The Son is the judge)

When the Son got the job of the judge, he said, I am just like my daddy, I did not come to judge.... the word that I have spoken is the one that is going to judge people (John 5:22, John 8:15)

So, the Bible is the one that is going to judge us. The judge is going to be on the throne (I agree with Markedward) but he is going to say, bring the book !!!

Lessons learned: Read the Bible, we are going to be judged by it. And second, stop judging others while on this flesh, and lets be like Jesus.

    Shalom

I am busy reading Corinthians,,, and there it speaks of Rewarding us for our faith I see NO-Rewards as Judgment
Fenris: "There are two ways to shoot an arrow into a bulls-eye You can shoot the arrow into the bulls-eye or you can shoot the arrow and paint the bulls-eye wherever it hits"

Romans 12:19 Don't seek revenge ... give place to God's wrath. For it is written "Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord"

    Isa. 30:32
And every blow of the rod of punishment, which the Lord will lay on him, will be with the music of tambourines and lyres; And in battles, brandishing weapons, He will fight them

The issue here is not whether we will be judged or not, the issue is who does the judging.... I think...

Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

It seems plain that in Jesus first coming 2000 years ago He came not to Judge but to save. On the Last Day He will be the Judge of both the living and the dead.
