Well Kay-gee... I'm lifted up by Christian music. God placed lyrics and music in the hearts, fingers and mouths of people who are servants to bring a gift given to such musicians to be shared with the rest of the Body of Christ... so, we all can share what God has given us here in this thread.

I'm sorry Kay-gee that God cannot speak to you, nor uplift you... through Christian music that He has gifted to others to bring to us all. Truly, I am sorry.

No, there's nothing wrong with you at all. Actually, music, in and of itself isn't necessarily "Christian"-it's the words that make it Christian (or secular).

So, I'm curious to know, what type of music does inspire you? ...gets yer toes a-tappin'?

I actually am very broadly versed in music. I like all kinds of stuff from Beethoven to John Coltrane to Rolling Stones to Hank Williams and almost all points in between.

I am not ideoligically opposed to contempary "Christian" music. I just plain old don't like the sound of it. The genre doesn't do much for me at all.

Some other person you ask, may say they totally hate country music. You ask why and all they can say is they just don't like the sound of it. Hard thing to really put a finger on. I'm not sure if it's the arrangements, the progressions, or the instrumentation. The female "Christan" singers...I have to shut off. Don't like that breathy vocal style. They sound like they just ran up a long flight of stairs before turning the mike on to sing.

I really do love the traditional hymns.

Being old has nothing to do with it. Its a matter of whether the words minister to you or not. It's not the music, although it can be for some, because it comes in different genres. It's the ability to connect with what's being sung about God-His Love and His plan of salvation
