What did John find which gave him great joy? - John found children living in Truth, just as we have been commanded by the Father.

Finish the verse: "And this is love:......" - Doing as God has commanded us, and He has commanded us to LOVE one another , just as you heard from the beginning.

Which person is a deceiver and an antichrist? - Many decievers have gone out into the world. They do not believe that Jesus Christ came to earth in real body. Such person is a deciever and an antichrist.

For is you wander beyond the teaching of Christ, you will not have fellowship with God. But if you continue in the teachings of Christ, you will have fellowship with both the Father and the Son.

Why did John write such a brief letter?

The elder, to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth—and not I only, but also all who know the truth - because of the truth, which lives in us and will be with us forever

What did John find which gave him great joy? The ladies children who walked in the truth gave him great joy.

Finish the verse: "And this is love:......" that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

Which person is a deceiver and an antichrist? Anyone who does not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh

Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

Why did John write such a brief letter? He wanted to meet them in person and he did not want to use paper and ink.

I'm guessing as the older in the faith, he viewed them as Children.

It seems that Diotrephes was not welcoming all the Christian brothers. But I will check tomorrow to make sure.

Ok. We're done with the epistles of John. Any idea where you want to head now? Also I have a question for you, and it's no big deal, just curious, do you mind if we mix in other translations? I was thinking of using, in addition to the NIV, the NASB, ESV and perpaps the HCSB. What are your thoughts? This goes for anyone who's following along as well. I like studying in various translations.
