Context will define which kind of wine is meant. That is the way I have attempted to show Biblical abstinence, but you and others come against everything I've posted. So carry on with your "scholarship" and I will continue to ignore you.
Come against? Why do you take this personally? This is BIBLE CHAT.... You have GOT to expect someone who doesn't believe the same way you do to discuss differences with you! So because you don't have a "comeback" you ignore them? People have attempted to show you the "context" of different passages from both Greek and Hebrew.... You simply ignore them because you want to see things your way!

Perhaps if you stop ignoring folks and start reading their posts you would stop asking questions the answer to which have already been posted.

    QUIT BEING RUDE!

Perhaps if you would not act like a child a person would not respond in "addressing one of your children" fashion.

I call folks honey.... It's my old fashioned redneck way of things....

Get over yourself.... And mayhap you would be better able to communicate with others.

    Sin?

Well, at the very least anyone honest must admit that there is a question about the 'sin' involved in drinking wine.

Probably not, since then Paul would be advocating sin for Timothy....

.... and then of course we know Christ was without sin.... and He drank wine... so there is that.

    HOWEVER,

12 pages later we have discovered sin.

Sin, is the defiance of Love in the discussion.

    Yes, it is sin.

I would deny wine for a weaker brother who might stumble.

I shall close this thread for the sake of the weaker brother also.

Amos with goats...you just love to see people slug it out, don't you!! (I read back over the last few pages of this old thread and they really were slugging it out...)
    My favorite scripture: Malachi 3:16

"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name!" (Every time we speak of the Lord, or even THINK of him--its written down in a book of remembrance!)

I sure hope that opening this back up does not cause that. We had SOME good discussion that might be helpful to some of those who are participating in the new thread...

... if folks start slugging it out, (looking like a drunken brawl) well, we know what to do.

If there is drunken brawling going on then I think there should be a mandatory sobriety test that must be passed before posting.
Don't bother quoting me, I'll go back and correct my posts about a dozen times so I can fix all the dumb mistakes, typos, and parts that don't make sense, once I'm done then you can quote it.

Word of God always wins and man made doctrine that man would rather follow always loses. Cept, those motivated by a belief fueled by man made doctrine are always much LOUDER and stubborn and they go out still swinging so they always think they're winning because they can't stop swinging. Man made doctrine has that effect on people... in their own head, they're winning.

Since I can answer this now... our church does the same. I'm the one who even buys the big Italian bread to tear up and the Welches to pour it in ALL those little bitty glasses when we have Communion. I have about 1500 of those glasses left right now so I hope they last out the rest of this year!!

Oh man, I want italian bread on communion......Actually Jesus broke matza (unleavened bread). Should we do it the way Jesus did, or just do it in whatever way we feel like?

Sometimes a person in the church will bake unleavened bread for the Communion.

What if Jesus wasn't even talking about Bread and Wine? What if He was saying to remember Him every time our bodies were torn or every time our blood was poured out for another? What if the Bread and Wine was just a symbol for things that would actually take place in this life with Christ? Just askin'?

I tried Matza one passover and about choked. It sucked all the moisture out of my tongue and caused it to cleave to the roof of my mouth. Then I tried making little pizzas out of it. Finally I gave up and fed it to the birds. They wouldn't eat it either. Tell me this is an anachromism, that unleavened bread was actually eatible 2000 years ago.

Jesus was talking about His body, broken and torn, and His blood shed for you and me for our reconciliation to God and for our healing. Bread and wine symbolize that, and that is why we partake of bread and wine when we come together before Him in meeting.
