    The Light of Men

    Before there was a firmament
Before the forming of the earth
    There dwelt a mighty filament
    In a pre-existant berth
Where God and Savior live as one
    In unity; Father and Son

And oh, The Light so loved His Lord
    He performed His every will
Creating all things through His word
Creating each one with great skill
From Eden's gates to Adam's fall
Yes, He alone had made them all

The gift of life was in The Light
    A life that lives forevermore
So all who would forsake the night
Could come and knock on Heaven's door
    And live through all eternity
    Aglow with immortality

He walked with us within our sight
    Exemplifying God's good news
But darkness would not see The Light
    Nor comprehend His views
    And crucified, with condemnation,
The Light that shines for our salvation

Whoa, what an excellent poem... I'm speechless. You've re-awakened an awe in me for what God has done for us in Jesus! Thank you!

    Re: The Light of Men

    Reminds me of this...

    John 1:1-12

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

    Thank you for this poem!

You are so right Diggindeeper! I was reading and reflecting The Gospel of John, and made it to the fifth verse when this poem came to me. I am so pleased you recognized where the inspiration was delivered to me!
That lets me know I did something right
