    MRS CURTIS

    Mrs Curtis had a healing
They laid hands upon her knee
Now she walks with gay abandon
    There for everyone to see
Was a time when she felt cheated
    Doubted if God really cared
    Limped around forever moaning
    Dissing Father, talons bared.

    When she realised her anger
Was the thing that held her back
    She said sorry and repented
Thanked the Father for her lack
    Now she's telling everybody
Trust in Him who knows the score
You may never get a healing
But His peace will heal your sore.

    Re: MRS CURTIS

I actually dislike this poem. It implies that the disability was somehow Mrs Curtis' fault. "Dissing Father, Talons bared"... I really don't like that. The fact is that Jesus says about the man born blind that neither he nor his parents sinned, but that the man was born with that disability to bring glory to God. The Mrs Curtis' of this world can bring glory to God by their patient endurance of suffering (as our own Mieke does for example.) Sometimes God does heal disabilities, sometimes He doesn't, as you acknowledge in the poem. But blaming the victim is really rather ugly.
Please could everyone pray for Mieke and Charles.

By the way, I'm sorry verseode... I'm not trying to belittle your gift, or imply that you believe the things I mentioned in the previous post. Just that that's how I read it.

    Re: MRS CURTIS

Hi there, sorry that you dislike the poem, but it doesn't say it was her fault. Rather, she had no real trust in The Lord and this made a barrier between God and her. When she accepted her problem The Lord blessed her and this has actually happened in a few cases. It goes on to say that not everybody will be healed but He can release His peace to those who accept their disability. Hope this helps. God Bless, Mike.

It's okay... I know that you're not saying all people with disabilities hate God. Hope you weren't too upset.

Ladies and Gentlemen, lets give a big hand to the Bible Forums Players! That was a scene from the play "Slow to Anger, Quick to Forgive." Coming to a theater near you.

Very nice poem Mr. Ode! It is wonderful to know that He is waiting for us to give our pains and hurts over to Him so that we can rest in His peace.
