Getting ready for the big freeze tonight. Brrrrrrr!!

It's been rather warm at night,in the 40's 50's,warm for this time of year anyway. Now tonight,it's dropping down to 25 or lower . I guess I'm going to break down and turn on the heater.I did turn off the air conditioner, finally.I don't see how you all in the higher states,or mountain areas handle it.But I guess if I lived there I'd get used to it.The coldest place I lived was in Michigan, right across the lake from Chicago. It was some brutal mornings stand at the bus stop, but I was 12 and tough. How is the weather where you live?

Here in Miami we're experiencing a nice cool and balmy 80º. Nothing like South Florida cool weather.

If I might ask you to pray for us. We have a gas leak. We heat with gas, I cook with gas, we dry clothes with gas and heat water with gas.

We had a plumber here this morning. His cost to do the repairs was 2,685.00. We simply do not have that kind of money. Today, Tom dug out the connections at the meter and the house. Tomorrow he will buy line and put it through the tunnel where the existing pipe is now. We will pay a cheaper plumber to come and make the connections. Please pray that there are no leaks in the house. We simply do not have the money to run new lines all over the house. Please pray that we can get the gas reconnected before the weekend. It's going to be 30 degree tomorrow night. It's 44 degrees right now. Please pray for Tom's strength and especially his back. He has two crushed disks in his back.

On the brighter side, we had the money to buy the line and I made vegetable beef soup in a crock pot. I've pulled a 15 year old hot pot that I tried to give away when we moved and no one wanted and have used it the last few days to heat water for dished and such.

    Sorry - I didn't mean to ramble....

Katman, I slept with my window open last night. I think that may have been the last time though for awhile.

I did too and it felt so good. I always sleep much better when it's cold.

V-praying for you all. For the record I'd rather have my electricity out than my gas.....which we went through a couple of years ago. At least we could cook and take showers.

Had a high of 40 yesterday, or so I heard. I only saw 38 myself. Was 24 here this morning.

when His love is received and freely given,

will all other things be added unto to you.

Just be very careful, it may wind up being that nobody will touch it if you have done part of it yourself. Depends on the state you live in. Plus, with the gas not shut off before the meter you risk an awful lot. Are you hooked up to an independent system such as a propane tank you fill or do you get service from a company? If its a company - that's their lines and their responsibility, most of the time.

There is a meter about 8o yards from the house. The lines are ours. It's a gas transmission company - no propane tanks are permitted within the city limits (I think). The plumber we are going to use has been here and he will make the connections and check the compression. It's 39 degrees here right now. Thanks for the encouragement.

Today, a young man, about 24, came by and offered to help Tom finish digging. He said he would be back in the morning. Praise the Lord!

Now you know why you couldn't get rid of it.

    Just prayed for you guys.

I think we're starting to be permanent with the Fall weather. I'm ready. I'm a Hoosier and I love Fall weather. I don't miss the snow, but I sure do miss Indiana(family more than the state)....well maybe the state too...once I read my reply back. We might be moving back in a couple of years.

Re: Getting ready for the big freeze tonight. Brrrrrrr!!

You know what Clay - a couple of things have went through my mind over the past few days.
    1. - I've been wondering why it was has been unseasonably warm. Now I know. God is looking after us.
    2. - We really could have been blown up - not just us but some of our neighbors as well.
    3. - We have been paying for gas to leak out into the dirt, maybe since we moved here. That would help explain the outer limits gas bills we have always had. This could ultimately save money - that would be GREAT!
    4. - The hot pot - the same thought came to mind. No one wanted it but I just could not throw it away. God knew.
    5. - I will have a greater appreciation for long, hot baths in our outsized ball and clay bathtub. Oh yea!

Thank you all for your prayers!
