Who decided the number assignments? Why does English not follow the same pattern as Greek and Hebrew? Seems awfully arbitrary to me...

To me Ed J, God's word is language independent (it is meant for ALL). Any numerical patterns one finds must be language independent and translation independent. But it is clear your "equations" are not language independent and not translation independent.
But since you bring up numbers, does Gematria say anything about the number 666?
