Hi, I joined this board because I had a few questions about how Christians use/do evangelism, and I thought I could have a discussion about it here.

Some background:
I'm an atheist, but my entire family is Christian, and I'm not opposed to going to church for the social events or because, well, frankly, my mother pesters me too. However, whenever I used to go (when I was younger), they always used to attempt to witness to me. Of course, that didn't work and they eventually stopped.

I'd been recently diagnosed with a rather serious illness, and I've noticed since then my family seems to have redoubled their efforts to convert me. So I guess my questions are:

1) Do you ever eventually "give up" on someone (like an atheist) who is not responding to your attempts to convert him?

2) Is it more important for you to "reach" people who are sick, because of their failing health?

My parents refuse to sit down and have a fair discussion about our beliefs.
