I've been pondering this and it seems to me to kneel is to acknowledge someones rule over you as did the Knights ..I can see this being a dilemma meeting the Queen or the Pope ...would you even bow.

I don't see much problem with bowing to Kings and Queens as long as you realize that the King of Kings rules over you both. I imagine the situation would be similar to what Paul exhorts slaves (and masters) to do in Ephesians 6.

No different that a captain saluting a general. Demonstrates respect for the position, not necessarily the person, and God ordains government.

What about Mordecai? He refused to bow to Haman.
Esther 3: 1 After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him. 2 And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed down, and prostrated themselves before Haman; for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not down, nor prostrated himself before him.
I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'm really uncertain what the proper action should be.
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."

Depends on if God is using you to set up the bad guy for a long fall on a short rope...
This raises the issue of civil disobedience, which is a whole 'nother 'tater completely. Good point.

If the king presents himself as god then a Christian cannot bow before him. If the king is simply the head of an earthly government then honor is due the position he holds. Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesars. A bow of respect is quite different from a bow of worship.

Is there a difference between bowing at the waist, and something more like say kneeling?
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."
Jeremiah 31:9

Is that a yes or a no?
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it on the islands from afar, and say, "He Who scattered Israel will gather them together and watch them as a shepherd his flock."

I doubt very seriously that i will meet any Kings and Queens during my lifetime, i'm 57; but then one never knows. As it stands right now my mind set is i will neither bow nor kneel before anyone; male or female, King or Queen. Some may say it's a sign of disrespect. Be that as it may if i were, say, in England or any country that is ruled by a King or Queen. If the initial greeting must be met with a bow i would first refuse to attend the event and just remain where ever i'm residing or just not go in. If it is a situation where i must attend, i will neither bow nor kneel. It may start a firestorm, but i'd rather start a firestorm here on earth than wind up in a firestorm in hell. So basically if it is not before our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ i will not kneel or bow down before them.
