Luke 18:14 "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
Justified means the same to be deemed righteous.
Righteousness and holiness however, are not the same.
The OT is about righteousness (together with a ceremonial holiness)
The NT is the holiness of a divine life in Christ SUPERIMPOSED on a righteous character.
Contrary to popular belief holiness is not a reward for wickedness.
Righteousness takes root in us when we are unwilling that anyone else should needlessly suffer. Holiness takes hold of us when we are willing to suffer at the hands of anyone.

The answer is definitely 2. agrees with me.
Question:
O Lord, who may abide in Your tent?
Who may dwell on Your holy hill?
Answer:
He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness,
And speaks truth in his heart.
He does not slander with his tongue,
Nor does evil to his neighbor,
Nor takes up a reproach against his friend;
In whose eyes a reprobate is despised,
But who honors those who fear the Lord;
He swears to his own hurt and does not change;
He does not put out his money at interest,
Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things will never be shaken.
Psalm 15
He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you?
But to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8
As Paul explains that we are justified by faith in Christ, He then treats us as righteous because we are in Christ. We aren't made righteous, otherwise we wouldn't sin right?Romans 3:21-26
21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Mark
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." Matthew 7:13-14
(All Scripture quoted is from NKJV unless otherwise noted)
A dictionary is NOT a tool used to indoctrinate people. A pulpit CAN be so used. A definition is just that. BTW in other languages, the word for "righteous" and "just" are the same.
Some of these languages include those used to write the bible...both Hebrew and Greek. No need to take my word for it.

For God has consigned all men over to disobedience so that he might have mercy on all. Romans 11:32
Scripture should not be interpreted based on man's definitions. Justified is a legal term. You are guilty but there is no evidence. You are justified but not righteous. Righteousness is imputed to us by faith but we are not righteous. We are justified by the Judge because the blood has taken away our sin so there is no evidence against us. We still know we are guilty and not righteous. The lack of evidence doesn't change that. No need to take my word for it. Read your Bible using God's definitions, not mans.
Just now seeing you said "deemed righteous". Sorry.
