    Workplace Evangelism

How about we consider a few things (or a few things more) that we can do to share the good news about Jesus to the people we work with?
Some easy ways the Lord has allowed me to start conversations:
When I ask someone what they are doing over the weekend, after responding they usually counter by asking the same question to me. When they do, I get to talk about what we're studying in church! This has been a great help in my workplace and I've even been able to get a Bible for a guy who has never been to church in his life! (Praise God, I hope he reads it!)
When things come up at work such as: It's nice outside, someone is nice to us, someone is not nice to us, we've had a difficult (or easy) day I usually provide a Bible verse to support our circumstances.
    Psalm 118:24 This is the day the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Listen to people's problems. Let them know you care and LET THEM KNOW GOD CARES!
    1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Don't forget to praise God when someone gives you good news! (Or bad news!)
    Psalm 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
    be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

    Take them to dinner.

    (A favorite technique of Jesus.)

I try to live my life as a testimony. Some people will even ask me about Jesus just because of the way I try to live (imperfections and all!). I do love your tips though!
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast

    Re: Workplace Evangelism

I've noticed that at my particular place of employment, the opportunity seems to present itself.
I don't have to "start" a conversation, I just happen to walk up right as someone is already talking about subjects pertaining to religion. Sometimes they're completely uninformed about the true meaning of Christianity and have preconceived ideas that are common among most non-believers, or potential seekers.

It's always fun to answer their questions, or to correctly explain the real deal about what they were talking about.

The looks on their faces is awesome (and somewhat shocked) when they hear an intelligent, logical explanation of biblical issues. Especially when it's not presented to them as if coming from a "Bible-Thumper", but rather a well informed friend, in a respectful, gentle manner.

Hebrews 11:1 Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

It's amazing how misinformed many (if not most) folks are (seemingly) about what is actually in the Bible.

    True 'dat!!!

They "think" they know....... but they really have no idea. That's why it's SOOOOO important for all of us to do whatever we can to equip ourselves with the knowledge & ability to explain, why we believe what we believe.

I've also noticed, the more I learn & the more I explain it to people, the more fun it gets!!!!

A woman at my church was telling us at a women's retreat that when she worked in an office, she had a "chocolate ministry," where she'd keep some chocolates in her desk, which everyone know about, and often if someone was having a bad day, they'd come by for a chocolate, and she'd ask them what was wrong and would pray for them.

Those are great ideas. I've been trying to "minister" by how I live and treat others for a long time but I know that isn't enough. I would love to be able to talk about the Good News too. I am a teacher so I have to be careful but there are always opportunities no matter where you are.

Yeah, school (and sometimes workplaces) can be tricky, because there's a chance someone will feel like you trampled on their rights, & scream "Freedom of religion / separation of church & state".
(Although they totally misunderstand what that actually means.)

If we are truly acting out of love and if we are saying what the Spirit has prompted, let the prosecutors name us openly to the glory of God the Father!
