PUTIN SET TO RE-EMERGE AS THE CZAR OF RUSSIA: Will run for President March 4, 2012



On August 17th -- in a column entitled, "Putin Rising: But Is He Gog?" -- I wrote that "after keeping a relatively low profile for the last several years, Vladimir Putin is rising. In recent weeks, the Russian leader — currently serving as his country’s prime minister — once again has been making headlines, stoking controversy, and seeming to position himself to run for president of Russia again in March 2012."
Now it's official. Putin is officially running in the March 4th elections and, barring unforeseen circumstances, should win in a landslide. His anti-American, anti-Western "tough guy" image of crushing the Chechens, and the Georgians, and building a vibrant economy through Russia's oil and natural gas industries, and building strategic alliances with radical Islamic allies such as Iran has played well and made him very popular throughout Russia's eleven time zones. Putin is counting on such support to allow him to emerge as the next Czar of Russia for many years to come. Reuters notes that "the next president will be elected for six years and the constitution still allows the head of state a maximum of two straight terms -- meaning Putin could be in power for another 12 years."
The re-emergence of Putin as Russia's central tyrant will re-stoke speculation that we are heading towards the "War of Gog and Magog"as prophesied in the Bible in Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39. Many evangelical Christians believe we are, in part because the prophecies of Ezekiel 36 and 37 have already come true regarding the dramatic rebirth of the State of Israel and Jews coming back to the Holy Land in the last days after centuries of exile. And Putin strikes many as far closer to the image of the evil dictator "Gog" described in the prophecy than the current President Dmitry Medvedev. A growing number of Jews also believe Ezekiel 38 and 39 could come true in our lifetime, and possibly in the next few years. In June of 2010, for example, a group of Rabbis in Israel said current events seemed to be leading to the "War of Gog and Magog."
While it is still too early to say such prophecies will be fulfilled soon, the rise of Putin -- combined with Russia's increasingly close ties to Iran, Libya, Turkey, Central Asia and other countries described by Ezekiel -- certainly doesn't bode well for the State of Israel or the Jewish people.

Ek vanoggend op RSG geluister hoe Tutu die ANC waarsku, nounie dat ek dink hy kan regtig iets doen nie, maar hy sinspeel daarop dat ons land sal val soos Libia en Egipte. As die massas wel opstaan dan is dit sekerlik moontlik.......en dan kan dit dalk ook wees soos wat die Here Amerika en ander lande straf (John McTernanan se blog) omdat hulle teen Israel opstaan. Ons regering is ook teen Israel en ondersteun 'n Palestynse staat. Dit is maar net my eie siening en kan heel moontlik nie gebeur nie.

Tutu Slams ANC For Failing To Grant Dalai Lama Visa

Retired Archbishop Desmond Tutu, an anti-apartheid hero often described as South Africa's conscience, slammed the ANC-led government Tuesday as "disgraceful" and said it is worse than the country's former oppressive white regime for not issuing a visa to the Dalai Lama.

The African National Congress responded by calling Tutu's comparisons to the apartheid regime and to toppled Arab dictatorships "very unfortunate and totally misplaced," and said the government should be given time to explain its actions.

South African foreign ministry officials have denied accusations they are stalling on the visa because of pressure from China, a major trading partner. Tutu, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his nonviolent campaign against white racist rule, turns 80 on Friday and had invited his fellow Nobel laureate to South Africa to celebrate his birthday.

"This government, our government, is worse than the apartheid government, because at least you were expecting it with the apartheid government," Tutu said, describing anti-regime activists being denied passports at the last minute by the white racist regime.

Barely concealing his fury, Tutu repeatedly told ANC leaders to "watch out" and warned them about becoming too complacent after winning every election since 1994 with large majorities.

He indicated they could face the fate of Arab dictatorships.

"Well, Mubarak had a large majority. Gadhafi had a large majority," Tutu said, referring to toppled Arab leaders in Egypt and Libya. "One day we will start praying for the defeat of the ANC government. You are disgraceful."

Tutu accused the government of failing to side with "Tibetans who are being oppressed viciously by the Chinese." He also charged President Jacob Zuma with ignoring the contribution religious leaders made to toppling the white Nationalist Party.

"Hey, Mr. Zuma, you and your government don't represent me. I am warning you like I warned the Nationalists," he said, referring to the party that ruled during apartheid.

Commentary

Syria is now threatening Israel with war, and Israel did nothing to Syria. Syria is stating if it is attacked by NATO, meaning Turkey, Syria will launch all its missiles against Israel! What logic on the part of Assad. The actual reason for this is if a he starts a war with Israel all the Arab nations will be compelled to join him! First Egypt was talking about war with Israel. Then it seems like the next week Turkey is on a war footing with Israel and now a few days later Syria is ready for war with Israel.

All this rhetoric is going to eventually lead to war. The great war is on the horizon. Israel has already stated in the past that it is going to utterly destroy Lebanon and Syria. It will be an all-out war with Hamas and whoever joins them. All we can do is pray for Israel and watch this unfold. Remember, one way or another, Jerusalem is going to ignite this war.

Russia, China Veto U.N. Resolution to Condemn Syria for Crackdown



UNITED NATIONS – Russia and China vetoed a European-backed U.N. Security Council resolution Tuesday that threatened sanctions against Syria if it didn't immediately halt its military crackdown against civilians.

It would have been the first legally binding resolution adopted by the Security Council since President Bashar Assad's military began using tanks and soldiers against protesters in mid-March. Its defeat reflects the deep divisions in the U.N.'s most powerful body over how to address the ongoing violence in Syria, which the U.N. estimates has led to more than 2,700 deaths.

The European sponsors of the resolution tried to avoid a veto by watering down the language on sanctions three times, to the point where the word "sanctions" was taken out, but they failed.
The vote was 9-2 with four abstentions -- India, South Africa, Brazil and Lebanon.
