Magnitude 4.7 quake hits Manila

MANILA, Philippines (1st UPDATE) - A moderately strong earthquake hit Manila and other parts of Luzon on Tuesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The earthquake, which measured magnitude 4.7 on the Richter scale, struck around 10:10 a.m. Its epicenter was located 26 kilometers northwest of Nasugbu, Batangas

Een ding wat ek ook die afgelope tyd opmerk is dat baie aarbewings min lewensverlies het, maar ongekende finasieele skade het. Is dit vir lande en gemeenskappe moontlik om weer finansieel op te staan? Die wereld is reeds in 'n finansieele krisis. As ons kyk na Haiti is daar net nie geld om die stad oor te bou nie. Los Angeles bestaan nie meer nie......en so is daar baie.

Israel, US successfully test Arrow missile

JERUSALEM – Israel and the U.S. carried out a successful test of the Arrow anti-missile system off the coast of California, Israel's Defense Ministry said Tuesday.

Israel's Defense Ministry said the Arrow detected, intercepted and destroyed a target missile launched from an offshore platform inside a U.S. Navy firing range in a test carried out late Monday.

TRIPOLI (Reuters) – A defiant Muammar Gaddafi said on Tuesday he was ready to die "a martyr" in Libya, vowing to crush a growing revolt which has seen eastern regions break free of his 41-year rule and brought deadly unrest to the capital.

Under the stated goal of achieving internet security and consumer convenience, the Identity Ecosystem, as the program has been dubbed, would supposedly streamline the process of doing business online by replacing the various login names and passwords currently used to access personal accounts and information on various websites with a universal internet ID. However, as Curt Hopkins points out in the New York Times, "a user would have one, 'verified' ID, which would be known by the government, and a set of large corporations. Given the periodic outbreak of governmental and corporate shenanigans, we fail to see the benefit of such a system."

Under the banner of fighting child pornography, the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice knocked out 84,000 websites last week. The websites did not host or link to child pornography as the government claims.


“As part of ‘Operation Save Our Children‘ ICE’s Cyber Crimes Center has again seized several domain names, but not without making a huge error. Last Friday, thousands of site owners were surprised by a rather worrying banner that was placed on their domain,” reports TorrentFreak, a tech site.

(1) a premillennial eschatology,
(2) sanctification as a second work of grace,

(4) the inerrancy of the Bible as God’s Word, and
(5) the Deity of Jesus. Some denominations are in an early stage of decline while others have advanced much further.

Chinese rockets, apparently supplied by Iran, hit Israel in first such attack since Hamas war

TEL AVIV — For the first time in more than two years, Israel has come under long-range rocket fire from the Gaza Strip.
Israeli military sources said Palestinian gunners aligned with Iran fired at least two Chinese-modified BM-21 Grad rockets into Israel on Feb. 23. They said the rockets, believed supplied by Iran, slammed into the southern city of Beersheba, about 45 kilometers from the Gaza Strip.

Iranian warships in Mediterranean for first time since 1979
NICOSIA — For the first time since 1979, the Iranian Navy has begun operations in the Mediterranean Sea.

Officials said two Iranian warships crossed the Suez Canal and reached Syria. They said the Navy vessels — a frigate and support ship — would participate in an exercise with Syria.
"This is a very important achievement," an official said.

Official: U.S. military options for Libya being planned


(CNN) -- In the first indication the crisis with Libya could take on a military dimension, the Pentagon is looking at "all options" it can offer President Barack Obama in dealing with the Libyan crisis, a senior U.S. military official told CNN on Thursday.

The official declined to be identified because of the extremely sensitive nature of the situation, but he has direct knowledge of the current military planning effort.
