CFJ, miskien moes ek dit so stel. Waar die doopbad gevind is, is in die woestyn. Water is skaars in die woestyn, en sou 'n mens 'n doopbad bou as net 'n paar druppels water nodig is om 'n baba te doop? Die geologie is nie geskik om water bymekaar te maak nie, as dit so skaars is dan eerder vir menslike gebruik (drink, kos, diere) op te gaar nie. Hier se Jordan tereg dat dit niks beteken sonder ware geloof nie. Ek het nog nooit 'n baba gesien wat kan glo nie en glo nie dat baba's gered kan word deur ouers wat glo nie. Baba's wat sterf het 'n "one way ticket" hemel toe, of die ouers nou glo of nie. Dit vind ek nie in die blaaie van die Bybel nie. Ek weet van die Joodse gebruik om Joodse baba's op 8 jaar te besny en nie te besprinkel nie. Dit word vandag nog gedoen.

Jordan Bajis's article is also careful to point out:

No parents should be allowed to baptize their infant if they themselves have not made an expressed commitment to serve Jesus Christ and raise their children in accordance with God’s Word. As adults, we are called to accept the challenge of our baptism and live dedicated lives for Christ. If we do any less, we have rejected Christ and the gift of salvation He has made available to us since our birth.”

Jordan het ook geen Skrifverwysing in sy artikel om sy standpunt uit die Bybel te staaf nie. As ek die Here dien beteken dit geensins dat my kinders die Here gaan dien nie. Ek wil nie die 'n doopdraad maak nie, ek het dood eenvoudig gewys op dit wat ontdek is.....in die woestyn.....waar daar nie baie water is nie, maar tog was dit gepas om deur onderdompeling te doop en nie besprinkeling nie. Wie is Jordan Bajis

Is Jordan Bajis an authoritative source on Orthodox teaching?

Greetings,
I am still a babe in Orthodoxy, and was reading a chapter from "Common Ground: An Introduction to Eastern Christianity for the American Christian" by Jordan Bajis here: http://www.rebuildjournal.org/resbke...ptreleven.html. It is recommended on many Orthodox sites. It has some very key information (especially for me and my family) coming out of Fundamentalism. It appears his books are well written. I wanted to know more about this author and his ability to clearly write. What confuses me is that it "appears" that he is not canonical? His Church appears to have very broad ties to various groups (see: http://www.holytrinitycommunity.org/)
I don't want to raise any polemical discussions, but do want to know if others know this material and (Fr.(?) Jordan Bajis).

I am especially interested in materials related to those coming out from Fundamentalism. (I was Chrismated on the post Feast of the Transfiguration, Aug 9, at our small OCA mission). My beloved still greatly struggles with Orthodoxy..and am looking for various ways of explaining areas of difficulty. She has all the standard areas of concern and these I can explain to her...but the way people live and the appearance of shallow Christian walks greatly disturbs her.

Drugs galore at school
Drugs are causing havoc in Noordgesig where the problem has even infected schools. At Noordgesig Senior Secondary School, only four out of 30 pupils who were randomly selected for drug testing last month tested negative.

The rest tested positive for substances like tik, heroin, crack cocaine and nyaope. Teachers blame the many drug peddlers operating in the township and the lack of decisive action by the police.

“The whole community is drug infested,” said a senior teacher, speaking on condition of anonymity.

He said that when police last conducted a raid at the school in November, two pupils were found with drugs.

Texas woke up one morning to find out that parts of their land was being sold off to a Spanish-based toll-road developer/operator called Cintra in March 2005 who collaborated with Texas-based Zachry Construction to form Cintra-Zachry. The Trans Texas Corridor (TTC) is the first leg in the joining of Mexico, the United States, and Canada with the NAFTA Super Highway.

The Trans-Africa highway will be made up of nine highways, passing through 41 cities in sub-Saharan Africa and connecting about 500-million people. The total length of the nine highways in the network is 56,683 km.
