    Prophecy Update News

JERUSALEM — Israeli and Syrian troops exchanged fire across their tense cease-fire line in the Golan Heights on Tuesday, prompting an Israeli threat that Syria’s leader will “bear the consequences” of further escalation and raising new concerns that the civil war there could explode into a region-wide conflict.

The incident marked the first time the Syrian army has acknowledged firing intentionally at Israeli troops since the civil war erupted more than two years ago. President Bashar Assad’s regime appears to be trying to project toughness in response to three Israeli airstrikes near Damascus in recent months.

In the exchange, an Israeli jeep came under fire during an overnight patrol in the Golan Heights, a strategic plateau which Israel captured from Syria in 1967 and later annexed. Syria claimed it destroyed the vehicle after it crossed the cease-fire line.

Israel said the jeep was on the Israeli side of the line and suffered minor damage, and no one was hurt. It said it returned fire at the source and scored a “direct hit.” It gave no further details. Syria did not comment on the Israeli fire.

It was the latest in a string of incidents in which gunfire and mortar shells have struck the Israeli side of the Golan in recent months. Israel believes that most of the fire has been incidental spillover from the Syrian civil war, but that several cases, including Tuesday’s, were intentional.

South African Agricultural Experts Visit the Arava

By KKL-JNF STAFF 05/20/2013 14:28 KKL-JNF shares its knowledge and experience all over the world, and is committed to addressing key global issues through mutual networking, knowledge sharing and spreading environmental advances beyond Israel's borders.

KKL-JNF shares its knowledge and experience all over the world, and is committed to addressing key global issues through mutual networking, knowledge sharing and spreading environmental advances beyond Israel's borders. In this spirit, KKL-JNF South Africa and KKL-JNF in Israel are helping to create a center for agricultural education in South Africa. A delegation from of the FTFA Feed Africa Program is visiting in Israel to learn about developing sustainable agriculture with KKL-JNF and the Arava R&D.

"I'm very impressed by the determination and persistence of the Arava farmers, we need passion like this in Africa. What we have been shown by the KKL-JNF people over the last two days proves that it can be done." Quentin Naido, head of the South African Food and Trees for Africa (FTFA) "Feed Africa" program, was at the Central and Northern Arava Research and Development Station, where he was visiting on Wednesday, May 8, with two of his colleagues, Anold Derembwe and Lucky Xaba. KKL-JNF had invited the three Africans to learn about innovative agricultural technologies following a visit to South Africa by Mickey Kaplan, who represents KKL-JNF at Israel's R&D stations, and Yossi Schneider, KKL-JNF Projects Development director.

Anold Derembwe, FEED Africa program manager, said that he was very impressed by the technology and expertise that he had seen. "If I were an Israeli decision-maker, I don't think it would occur to me to invest in agriculture in an area like the Arava desert. What you have done here is overwhelming, and to achieve it, everyone has to put their hands on deck. It couldn’t be achieved individually. It takes a collective effort to go the extra mile."

Lucky Xaba, a senior project officer, said; "I'm involved with trees, food security and agro-forestry. I feel very empowered by the holistic cooperation between different partners that I've seen here. It has reinforced my belief that when implementing, you need to begin with the end in mind."

Messianic Prophecy Number 13: Gen 22.18 – All Nations Shall Be Blessed Through Abraham’s Seed

    by Don Ruhl
In Genesis 12.3, the Lord promised Abraham that in him all the families of the earth would be blessed, but Genesis 22.18 takes that promise and specifies that the blessing would come through
    Abraham’s Seed,
“In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice” (Genesis 22.18).
Galatians 3.16 helps us to see that God intentionally used the singular when speaking of Abraham’s seed, and that the Seed was Jesus Christ,
“Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, ‘And to seeds,’ as of many, but as of one, ‘And to your Seed,’ who is Christ” (Galatians 3.16).
In verse 14 Paul had written of the blessing of Abraham,
“…that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith” (Galatians 3.14).
Earlier in verse 8, the apostle had quoted Genesis 12.3,
“And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, ‘In you all the nations shall be blessed’” (Galatians 3.8).
Therefore, the magnificent promises made to Abraham, starting in Genesis 12.3, shows that from the very beginning God intended them for the whole world, and Israel would experience those blessings first, and then Israel would introduce those wonderful things to the world, which they did through the preaching of the apostles.
Top 12 ways Israel feeds the world.
From drip irrigation to natural pesticides, Israeli innovations are helping to fill hungry bellies everywhere, but particularly in the developing world.

Food security is a major concern for our rapidly growing planet. As resources dwindle and the population rises, smart solutions for better agriculture and safer food storage are essential.
No other single country – certainly not one as young and as tiny as Israel – has contributed more breakthroughs in this area than Israel.
Since the 1950s, Israelis have not only been finding miraculous ways to green their own desert but have shared their discoveries far and wide through channels including MASHAV, Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
ISRAEL21c has highlighted dozens of food-related advances pioneered by Israelis. Here are 12 major ways Israel helps feed the world.

    1. Drip irrigation
Probably no other advancement has been quite as significant. While the concept of drip irrigation existed well before Israeli statehood, it was revolutionized by Israeli water engineer Simcha Blass, who serendipitously discovered that a slow and balanced drip led to remarkable growth. He created tubing that slowly released water where it was most effective, and in 1965 Kibbutz Hatzerim built a whole new industry, Netafim, based on his invention.
Israeli drip and micro-irrigation solutions rapidly spread worldwide. The newest models are self-cleaning and maintain uniform flow rate regardless of water quality and pressure.
Just one recent example of how this method has impacted food supply in foreign countries is Tipa, literally “Drop,” an Israeli-developed kit that has allowed 700 farming families in Senegal to reap crops three times a year instead of just once, even on infertile land.
Tipa is “a simple drip irrigation system that uses gravity when there is no water supply or water pressure coming to rural areas,” MASHAV’s Ilan Fluss told ISRAEL21c. The organization has similar activities in Kenya, South Africa, Benin and Niger.

    2. Grain cocoons
Israeli-designed GrainPro Cocoons provide a surprisingly simple and cheap way for African and Asian farmers to keep their grain market-fresh.

    3. Biological pest control
On Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu, a company called Bio-Bee breeds beneficial insects and mites for biological pest control and bumblebees for natural pollination in greenhouses and open fields. Subsidiary Bio-Fly sells sterile Mediterranean fruit flies to control this major pest in fruit trees.

    4. Dairy farming
Hof Hasharon Dairy Farm, SAE Afikim and SCR Precise Dairy Farming all makeadvanced systems for herd management, monitoring and feeding used on dairy farms worldwide.

    5. Tailor-made farm solutions
Kibbutz-based Agricultural Knowledge On-Line (AKOL) makes unique software to help producers grow fruits and vegetables, raise poultry and dairy cows, manage vineyards and make olive oil.

    6. A better potato
It took nearly 30 years of research, but Hebrew University’s Prof. David Levy developed strains of potatoes that thrive in hot, dry climates, and can be irrigated by saltwater.

    7. Squeezing every drop of water from the air
Tal-Ya Water Technologies developed reusable plastic trays to collect dew from the air, reducing the water needed by crops or trees by up to 50 percent.

    8. Unparalleled crop protection
Two years ago, Hebrew University’s tech-transfer company teamed with Makhteshim Agan, a world leader in crop protection products, to develop and commercialize slow-release herbicides and a targeted insecticide that doesn’t harm beneficial insects.

    9. Fishing in the desert
Overfishing is a serious threat to the food supply, a grave situation since fish is the main source of protein for hundreds of millions of people. But what if fish could be raised virtually anywhere, even in the desert? That is just what the Israel’s GFA (Grow Fish Anywhere) Advanced Systems has made possible.

    10. Food from greenhouse gas
Israel’s Seambiotic clean-tech company recently launched a commercial algae farm in China and does business in the United States and Italy as well.
