Led Of The Spirit/Under The Law?

How is the following scripture understood?

Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

I think it just means we're not under the penalty of the law. What do you think?

According to the following scripture gentiles do not have the law so why would it be just the penalty of the law and not the whole law?

Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

Re: Led Of The Spirit/Under The Law?

A person who walks in the Spirit is not subject to a "what not to do" list. He is engaged in DOING the things prepared in advance by God Himself.

The law is meant as an indicator that we are NOT doing what we ought to do. A righteous people will TRY to obey the law insofar as they are able to.

But in Christ we are empowered to walk beyond the law into the perfect nature of the law. In other words we not only not covet or steal, we give it all away...

Would it be in line and in context, to apply this scripture with what you have said?

Rom 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

"in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts." Gentiles are under the law written in their hearts by God. If Gentiles can be heart circumcised by keeping the law written their hearts, they can be heart uncircumcised by not keeping it. Adam died because he allowed his heart to be driven by sin. The curse for that was death. We're all under that law and curse...unless we are being led by the Spirit.

Yes! The logos (word) condemns them. But we have received the empowering rhema (active word) that fulfills the law.

With regards to the scripture and what you have said, gentiles were never given the law or never under the law so how does that apply to those that were never under the law?

Which law are we fulfilling when we follow the spirit, if by following what it contains there is no law?

The Law. There's only one. The written is a reflection (glass) of the spiritual. The law is spiritual -Rom 7:14. It says love God and your neighbor.

Is that the Mosaic law or another law?
