Thread: Off to go preach the word of God

Off to go preach the word of God

I am off to go open air preach the word of God in the streets. Cars will hear me, people will hear me, and the word will be proclaimed. Typically on a given night I also pass out tracts and speak with people, but tonight I may just focus on open air preaching. Pray for souls to hear the word of God being proclaimed.

Just saw this and now I'd ask the same question as Dani.
    Psalm 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
    be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

I really could use a partner or need to contact PD before I go. A woman and her BF got in my face. They were spraying lysol around me and using all kinds of foul language and had a strong hate for me. I could not reason with them. Others cussed me out, or got in my face. I tell people that street preaching is one vehicle method of evangelism that I use of many, and its got strong support in the gospel of Mark among other places. Jesus does not detail the methods on how we should evangelize in Mark 16, as he just commands us to go out and PREACH to all creation. This can be street preaching, passing out tracts, one on on conversations, etc.. The main thing is that we tell the bad news about sin, and the good news of Christ.

Well, there's a reason Jesus sent the disciples out in pairs. Because two are better than one and a three-fold cord isn't easily broken.

Maybe ask in your church and see if anyone wants to join you next time?
    Even so, come Lord Jesus!

Question: Is it effective? Have you tried other methods of evangelism? Who do you know that is not a Christian? I'm concerned with the first thread...."cars will hear me." What do cars have to do with telling people about Jesus?

I greatly admire your zeal, and I pray that God will direct you to those that need to hear the Good News.

I am not a pragmatist. I do not choose methods because they are "effective." I choose methods that are Biblical. Sadly many christians put so much stress and pressure on themselves trying to get people saved, when they all fail to see that God is the one that calls people to himself and grows his church (Acts 13:48).

Usually when I confront someone with this they will quickly agree with me, and then later on illustrate that they did not understand.

I wish… But I am not attending a Way of the Master church. Way of the Master churches are usually not Fundamentalist so not many will do street preaching other than those in that camp.

I don't go to a "Way of the Master" church, but it's actually recommended by my leadership (the program) who also like Ray Comfort in general, as do I.

What is wrong with being a humble servant in an effort to show them in a real and tangible way the love of Christ? The Bible is FULL of those examples. While I understand that actually getting involved in the lives of the people you are trying to reach involves a substantially more amount of time, effort and resources than shouting at their cars as they drive by, I have been able to lead a couple of people to Christ that way.

    Jesus was a pragmatist.

He was intimately involved in the daily lives of sinners, loving them, caring for them, teaching them the truth in love. The only people Jesus every yelled at where religious folks.

In a street preaching context you cant do that as you cnat usually build relationships with people. That is for prison, jail and other such evangelism ministries. Disagree? Go try it yourself in my area.

I dont have time to argue with you. But if you read the gospel of Mark closely you will see that Jesus very regularly open air preached.

I've done street ministry once or twice in some fairly rough areas. It has been my experience that they have to trust you before they trust what you say about eternity. But, I am just an amateur, what do I know?
