    Re: My Step-Mom: Cancer

She attended the wedding and had a good time, though it was hot and forest-fire smoke permeated the place (outdoor wedding).

The house emptied on Monday, much to her relief.

Tuesday was her chemo day and they gave her a shot intended to stimulate red blood-cell production. Makes her ansy but also energetic and yakkity, which is a very good thing.

Thanks very much, and Lord Bless

Thanks much for your concern and prayers for JoAnn.

Her doctor is now recommending she leave off of the chemo and let the cancer run its course.

Further tests and perhaps decisions scheduled for Tuesday.

I'll attempt to talk at extended length with her tomorrow - Sunday.

If the chemo is not doing any good...why continue?

My Bill said, as long as he was able to talk, "Its all in the hands of the Lord. I've tried chemo. I've tried radiation. Now, its all up to HIM." So I really do understand. I am praying my heart out for JoAnn. I promise.
    My favorite scripture: Malachi 3:16

"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name!" (Every time we speak of the Lord, or even THINK of him--its written down in a book of remembrance!)

    Re: My Step-Mom: Cancer

It's been wonderful having this forum to share JoAnn's fight with cancer, and she is always quite moved when I tell her friends here are praying.

Was able to talk at length with JoAnn today, though she is pretty miserable, and I go away very confident she is trusting the Lord for salvation - being perhaps days or weeks from death - and that's too wonderful for words. She talks freely and in peaceful terms concerning her salvation and her trust in the Lord.

She is very sensitive right now to the fact that she does not deserve salvation, but we agree wholeheartedly that "Deservin's Got Nothing to Do With It." (her sense of humor is undying).

Together we devised a medical term for her general, always courageous outlook. We call it tough-old-broad-enza. She said she'll tell her doctor about it Tuesday.

Thanks again for the many prayers and concern and Lord Bless
    Stephen

EDIT: This will likely call me home again, so if I don't see ya's...Got you in my prayers.

Is she still able to eat? Drink? I certainly pray she is. Please PM me if you feel the need to talk. I just endured this with my husband of 55 years. He sounds like a twin to JoAnn!

PLEASE tell her I am praying all the time for her, and for her to keep that wonderful humor. What a blessing! My husband did that too, and EVERYONE misses his humor. Tell JoAnn to please keep people smiling! May God bless her.

Will keep praying for you all. Glad that she has found humor in this too. It's a good quality to have, makes it easier to deal with it.

My sisters make sure she eats but it's getting more and more difficult. I will and have conveyed to her your personal experiences with cancer in your family, and your concern and prayer. It does encourage her. Thank you!

JoAnn passed this morning, at home and in the presence of most of her family.

She actually went home rather quickly once the chemo was discontinued and the suffering set in.

JoAnn was always quite moved, knowing folks here had prayed for and asked about her - I'm very confident in her salvation.

We enjoyed a close relationship - she actually adopted me when she was 14yrs old, though it had never become official.

    Thanks all, and Lord Bless.

I'm sorry I left on the day you posted this and didn't see it until just now. I made a 5 1/2 hour trip to Birmingham, Alabama to see my family there and to be with them for our family annual Christmas gathering. I just got back tonight and was checking to see if there was an update about her.

From the bottom of my heart, you have my sincere deepest sympathy, friend. I am so, SO sorry. I truly hope she was not in much pain before she passed. I'm praying for your whole family.
