3 isn't a bad thing Fenris. Sometimes what we want or think we deserve isn't what God has ultimately planned for us, and sometimes His plans are so much better and more wonderful that what we limited ourselves to expecting.

I see the entire Earth and all the created universe as the inheritance for any Israelite who is a faithful child of God. World without end. Zionism is a much more limiting and shortsighted vision IMO.

I never said it was. I'm not passing judgement on anyone here- I just want to know what people's opinions are.

Re: Are you a Christian Zionist?

I believe Israel are GODs chosen and the return of Israel to the Jews is NT prophecy, therefore I am a Christian Zionist. No I didn't vote.
If Satan can keep us busy swinging our swords at one another, there is no hope of a united attack on the kingdom of darkness. KJV, NIV, ESV or ABCDEFG; there is no time to bicker over such things. We'll devour each other if allowed to continue. We should grab the marching orders written in the way we best understand and get to work.

There are only two groups of people. Only now, only ever have been.... those who trust in the Lord though Faith by grace... and those who do not.

There are sheep, and there are goats.

That said, I am of the wild vine, grafted in... and see simply too much scripture to indicate that the Lord has a design for salvation of those who are of the seed of Abraham... (He desires all to be saved of course).

I also root for the underdog... you need only look at a map to understand who that is.

OH, and Israel is a US ally, and democratic nation in the midst many nations who are not... so there is that.

    I am a Zionist. I believe:

    1. That the Jews have the right to Judea (no other nation ever did after God kicked out the Canaanites).

    2. That the nations will be judged for what they did to the Jews, to the land, and to all Israel:

"For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land." (Joe 3:1-2 KJV).

    3. I believe that a reconcilation is coming between the Judeans and their King, Jesus, and when that rconciliation comes, He will set His feet upon the Mount of Olives and go out and fight against all the nations who have gathered against Jerusalem.

    4. I believe that the land God promised the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (of which the Jews are only one tribe) stretches from the Mediterranean sea to the Euphrates river, and I believe that Judea, which belongs to the Jews and their King, Jesus, is only one part of it, though Jesus is King of the universe and shall reign over the kings of all the earth from His trone in Jerusalem.

    5. I sympathise 100% with Jewish Zionists and their cause, and I loathe the cause of the Palestinians, neither do I believe the West Bank and Gaza Strip belong to them.

So I'm a Zionist in my view.

But apparently not in your view.

I'm scratching my head here. How does this post not fit with my poll option #1?

The problem probably is with the word command. Some people get a little fuzzy over that word. I chose #1

Because you said "I am a Christian Zionist.... because God commands it".

God does not command me to be a Christian Zionist - He commands me to believe in Jesus, who is the Word of God made flesh - He is the Word of God spoken to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and the prophets - and being a Christian Zionist is a natural result of believing God's Word to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and the prophets. The command is to believe the Word of God - not part of the Word of God - all of it.

Re: Are you a Christian Zionist?

This is a bit of a hard one for me because I'm a theological misfit

Some Christian Zionists, I have found, are a bit too sentimental about their stand for Israel versus theological. It ends up a bit self-serving (I bless Israel for personal gain / personal blessing but will not tell them about Jesus) versus embracing what I feel to be God's actual heart for Israel. I don't think that, if we actually stand with Jesus and His heart for Israel, we end up with many friends.

A biblical view of Israel is quite an intense one to embrace - you are for them and their destiny in love and tenderness; but also are against them as enemies of the gospel in love and tenderness. The prophet Zechariah, in the beginning of his final oracle, said it best when He articulated "the burden of the Lord against Israel" as it related to her future and destiny. Zech. 1 and 8 tell us that God has great zeal for Zion - and He shows us through the prophet why He has great zeal for that city (it will be the city of truth impacting the whole earth); yet the greatest obstacle of that vision and destiny also happen to be the people themselves who do not stand in agreement with God's plan and purposes.

I appreciate David T's stand to unapologetically preach Jesus in that sense. Too many Christian Zionists will not out of fear of man - and some bad theology. I part ways with David T, however, in viewing Israel as "just another nation". Paul makes a point of reminding us in Romans 9 that our God is a Jewish Man - now and forever. This is His flesh n' blood family we're talking about, and it's a bit more personal for Him than we'd like to imagine.

So I suppose, Fenris, according to the way you defined your poll, I'm a bit of #1 and a bit of #2 - but with the caveat that "pro-Israel" according to Jesus is "pro-gospel" (good news) without shrinking back from a message of coming judgment and shaking (bad news). I think the days are coming when Christians have to be clear about both points in love.
    The Rookie

Twelve is the number of government. Thus, it is quite apropos that I am on my way towards wielding the power of twelve bars - each bar like, say, a tribe.....or a star.....or, maybe an apostle. A blue apostle. Like apostle smurfs. Does anyone remember smurfs? And all the controversy about them being from the devil? It's probably bad that I juxtaposed "apostle" and "smurf" in the same sentence. But then, I probably lost you at "blue apostle". Yes, my friends, this is what "rare jewel of a person" is actually implying. "Rare Jewel of a Person" really means, "Potentially Insane".

Yeah that seems to be it. Thanks for clarifying, perhaps I would have worded the poll differently had I known...

Yeah perhaps my choice of words was lacking...still it seems choice #1 is the closest to what you are articulating.

I picked not a Zionist, Israel is wrong because that's what I believe the NT teaches and defines better what the OT means. The idea that Jewish people are "Gods chosen people" is nowhere taught in the Bible.

Israel is wrong .....Wrong in what sense ?

Israel is defined in Deut 32:8 as Gods choosen people.

    Deut 32:8

When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.
For the LORD'S portion is His people; Jacob is the allotment of His inheritance..

    K. Well I voted 2 instead of 1 then. Not because I think it's the right thing to do or because I think that God commands it ....
