Yesterday I saw a church sign that said "Easter egg celebration". And this is a non-denominational evangelical church. And I thought "what the heck?" What about posting what the true meaning of Easter is? Does this bother anyone else?

Yes it does., By the way I love your avatar.

If I remember correctly, I think I heard that the concept of Easter Eggs are of pagan/heathen origin.
Seriously, what's more worthy of celebrating: Jesus or eggs?
I can picture someone saying, "Well, they weren't literally celebrating eggs.".
Maybe not, but... it just bothers me.
They could have put up a sign that said, "Jesus's resurrection celebration".
Out here it's even worse..........
They sell "Easter branches" with cute little wooden figurines and guirlandes to decorate it....... everything from chickens to eggs, bunnies and all the like....... lots of stuff like that..... from table cloths to all kinds of things...... I used to participate in that until I found out the true meaning of those eggs, chickens and bunnies........ now I ban them out of our home....... and I wonder if the people buying that stuff realize what they are buying........

Kids these days fail to realize the full meaning and importance of easter, christmas etc. But it's not their fail it's the parents or churches like that who fail to teach them, I remember during christmas time when I was a kid I used to pray to Santa the gifts I wanted, so did most kids I knew, cause I didn't know much better, now i kick myself for doing, that because thats basically breaking the first commandment. If churches like this keep doing this, the next generation won't really even know why we have Easter.
Every temptation is of the devil, and every sin leads to death.
By "Easter egg celebration" I would assume it meant they were having an Easter egg hunt. Is this wrong? If this Easter egg hunt were to take place and people came to it that wouldn't normally come to church, and then were able to be witnessed to, is that a problem? It is a little while until Easter yet, so perhaps they are having an Easter egg hunt this weekend and then the sign will change to talk about the Resurrection for next week.
Things are what you make them. Easter eggs, bunnies, chickens, etc., are not inherently bad. You say you "used to participate in that until I found the true meaning of those eggs, chickens, and bunnies", but that "true meaning" was obviously not the meaning they had for you, so what did it matter? Whatever history they have, or whatever "meanings" people assign to them, they truly mean nothing except for what you make them mean.
Don't worry. The "Easter egg hunt" is about to become the less offensive "Spring Egg hunt." Almost as much fun as opening presents from under the "holiday tree."
When we stand before the Judgment Seat, we will have retained only two things from our earthly life: what God gave us, and what we did with what He gave us.
Most of the Easter symbolism is of pagan origin. Even the name comes from the pagan goddess Ishtar/Eostre, who was one of the goddesses of fertility. Eggs are obviously symbols of fertility and rabbits - well, I'm sure I don't need to explain that one
Personally I don't care one way or the other whether kids hunt chocolate eggs. I don't see rabbits or eggs as being inherently bad things. What bothers me is when symbolism that has nothing to do with Jesus is spun into some kind of far-fetched yarn - I remember being told as a child that we have Easter eggs because the stone across Jesus' tomb was egg-shaped.
I'd hope any church holding Easter services would announce them via its notice board, but if somewhere along the way they host an event to get kids hunting eggs in the grounds I don't see that as an issue. It's a perfect opportunity to start a discussion along the lines of "of course there's more to this celebration than hunting bits of chocolate".

The thing that sets me off is that Ishtar is the female version of Baal and that children were sacrificed to her, and other things that children were not waiting for and that's why I don't want to have anything to do with her......... besides she's an idol and I don't want to have nothing to do with idols............

If you feel convicted that anything to do with eggs and rabbits is associating yourself with Ishtar then you're doing the right thing by steering clear. For myself I can eat chocolate whether it's shaped like an egg, a rabbit or a regular slab without concern that I'm in any way honouring idols.

Oh I have no problem with chocolate....... it's out of my diet anyway.....I am having trouble with people out here setting up an "easter tree" like this:
Usually they hang (baby) chickens and bunnies and all kinds of wooden figurines in it too.......... that takes away the real meaning of Passover and brings honor to Ishtar IMHO.......... that's what I am against, and not against a chocolate egg or bunny........

I agree with you Mieke. I wouldn't allow one of those in my house either. You have to stand on your convictions and if the Spirit convicts you that something is wrong for you then it's wrong.
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
