    Fascinating things you've seen...

    For example:

While hiking the Pintlar mountain range in Montana, I got caught in a pretty nasty rain/hail storm. But, as I continued to climb I eventually passed through the storm into a serene, sunny day and was able to look down on the storm below me.

After a pleasant rest, I climbed back down into the raging storm.

On a trip to the big island of Hawaii, I got to see up close small flows of lava extruding and cooling.
It is only the cynic who claims “to speak the truth” at all times and in all places to all men in the same way, but who, in fact, displays nothing but a lifeless image of the truth… He dons the halo of the fanatical devotee of truth who can make no allowance for human weaknesses; but, in fact, he is destroying the living truth between men. He wounds shame, desecrates mystery, breaks confidence, betrays the community in which he lives, and laughs arrogantly at the devastation he has wrought and at the human weakness which “cannot bear the truth”. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, in Ethics.

At a cottage in northern Ontario... so out of the way you'd think you were the last person on earth, I spent the night in a basement room with no window. Since it was winter, no animals were about and with no wind the plants weren't swaying. With absolutely no ambient light or noise, waking up in the middle of the night was like going blind and deaf instantly.

Shortly before 3am anchored off of Allens-Pensacola Cay in the Bahamas. I woke up for no reason and went on deck to take a look.

The moon was full and bright, and the water was as still and clear as it gets. We had about 15' under the keel and the moonlight was so bright I could almost see in color. There was no hint that the boat was floating in water, it looked as though we were suspended in mid air.

As I leaned over the side and stared down, I could see the shadow of the anchor chain... the motion of the small fish gathered under the boat... it was surreal. I did not want to even breath hard for fear of disturbing the moment... it was that beautiful.

I had seen still clear water before, and since... never as fantastic as that night.

One time while I was in college the church singing group I was a part of was coming home from a gig. We were in southern Illinois at the time (at least I think so, definately within an hour or so of Charleston, Ill). While driving down the road we saw the Arora Broeales. We pulled off to the side of the road to watch them. As far south as we were there wasn't any color left in them but the were still awe inspiring.

    Yes they are very beautiful.
I would have to say lightning rolling like balls on water would be one of the most fascinating things ive ever seen, i was young on a return fishing trip heading back to camp with family when we got caught in a bad storm and thats what happened around us on the lake.
Another would be clouds rolling together directly towards us as if a carpet was being unveiled in the sky, was at that time very fearful but incredible to watch, then the rain coming in a blanketed wall straight towards you.

I remember seeing a full 360-degree rainbow around a small cloud - it was summer a year or two back at a friend's house. I never saw anything like it before or since... unfortunately the only camera I had to hand was my cellphone, which takes truly dismal pictures.

Amazing things here. Oh for the want of a camera. One of the reasons I always carry my JVC cam/digital camera anymore. (wouldn't have been much use to HisLeast).

Have you ever seen it rain so that one half of the road is wet and the other side dry?

    Never saw such a thing.

I did, however, see it rain in the middle of the desert near Lordsburg New Mexico, which rarely happens. It seemed to turn into a vast, shining sea, near sundown. Beautiful.

These little lizards would sprint across the water on their hind legs.

Wow, were you close enough to it?
I might have ran straight for it if i would have been in your shoes and close enough

Check off, dancing in the rain in the middle of a desert.
