A fifteen-year-old girl was pulled from the Bay this morning, after miraculously surviving a 240ft fall (or jump) from the Golden Gate , widely considered the world's most famous bridge. This is the second time in a month a teenager has survived this plunge.
Since its opening, in 1937, an estimated 1400 to 1500 suicides have taken place there.
32 reported (known) suicide deaths last year.
A suicide barrier has been designed and approved but the $50,000,000 it will cost have not been raised.
Such tragic loss - this pseudo-romantic, desperate notion of death by jumping from the bridge.
The young lady's condition at this time is unknown.
