Easter Bunny, events renamed 'spring' to avoid offending anyone

    http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/ea...g-1420013.html

I guess it don't matter that the majority population are offended by this nonsense.

I know many non-Christians who find this political correctness absurd too.

Where can one find some good and effective Christian groups that are fighting against this?

Why would a Christian be offended at removing non-biblical traditions from the celebration of Easter?

"Spring spheres." Not that's funny....They really should try "vernal equinoxic ovoids".

I for one am glad about that. If the secular world turns away from calling their Spring celebration stuff Easter, then it will be seen as what it really is: a celebration of spring: bunnies, lambs, flowers... Spring. Then maybe people won't be confused about what Resurrection Day is really about. This is the first year in our house that we've done eggs and bunnies and chicks and such. My daughter is now 3. We did them around the first day of Spring, and talked about how exciting Spring is after a long winter, and how all that stuff represents Spring. We decorated Spring eggs. It was fun. It was an opportunity to talk about the Creator, and the beauty of his world, and even new life. Now we're focusing on Jesus' last days before his crucifixion, and this Sunday is going to be all about the miracle of the resurrection, and what it means. I grew up in a secular household, and I had NO CLUE that Easter was about anything other than the Easter Bunny and candy. While my daughter is growing up in a non-secular home, I don't want this joyful celebration of our Lord's resurrection to be muddled and confused, so as a family we've chosen to split the two celebrations. Spring has it's place, but the Resurrection deserves it's own special recognition and place of honor in our home. Just my

Ok, if people were offended by it, then why celebrate it, if it's just not your religion, let it be, people are so stupid these days. And really they already took the spiritualness out of it by adding a bunny instead of Jesus, what's more to take out, the bunny is already a pagan tradition it's not spiritual in any way, you don't see a holy bunny anywhere in the bible. If this keeps going on, in a few generations, kids are going to look back and say, why is there a so-called a spring bunny anyway, what purpose does it serve, and no one will know, because it's been twisted so much. And what else, is you don't see Jews giving in to these things, for example Passover, it's been the same since the exodus.

To turn this around a little, why are you so offended by calling it "spring" whatever? Also, although schools officially call it spring break rather than Easter break, the majority of references still use Easter, or do you have some evidence to show everything is switching to "spring" whatever?

Actually most spring breaks don't happen during this time of the year anyway. Not that I know of. My son had spring back last month and I know of several other schools that had it a week sooner then he did..or a week later. So of course they wouldn't call it Easter Break since its not close to Easter time. Maybe in some colleges they are..don't know.

Anyway its fine with me them renaming these things ...though I am afraid what will happen is they will focus more on nature...you know..the mother earth thing which is just as pagan...

    God bless

Ironic that in their attempt to eliminate any vestiges of Christianity, they are removing all the pagan influences from the holiday.

And whats with eggs and bunnies? If I were a bunny I'd be offended at the thought. Cursed oblate spheroids. Give me grass and carrots! And in return I'll deposit piles of tiny brown spheres.

I have a small herd of bunnies that have invaded my back yard and my grass looks like a putting green. I may not have to mow it this year.

I wonder why they think people would be offended at pagan imagery? Only Christian festivals need to be renamed to avoid offending others. The Easter Bunny has precisely nothing to do with Jesus.

It's not that I'm offended it's just, irritating, also spring break is way before Easter.

I always found the whole Easter Bunny thing pretty silly.
I have a family of bunnies living under my shed and they leave "chocolate eggs" all over the lawn, but you wouldn't want to eat them!

I see God in the rebirth of nature in Spring.

I see God in the beautiful flowers that come up fresh and new each year.

I see God in the rain that makes the grass such a lovely shade of green.

I see God in the smiles on children's faces as they color eggs their favorite colors and experiment with patterns and designs.

i see God in chocolate rabbits with missing ears because God gave us chocolate. And rabbits.

Maybe I'm a pagan after all. Or maybe we see what we want to see.

I don't see God in chocolate rabbits with missing ears. Stealing is a sin, I want to know who sinned by stealing the ears

Does anyone realize that rabbits are considered rodents?
